Hoa Phat’s pig farm is considered one of the most modern breeding facilities in Vietnam at the moment.
In the first 6 months of 2023, Hoa Phat Development of Livestock Joint Stock Company sold approximately 170,000 commercial live pigs, more than 32,000 commercial 3M breeding pigs and gilts, reaching over 100% of the plan. Particularly in the last two months, the market has shown many positive signs as the price of pigs fluctuated around VND 60,000/kg.
Normally when it’s mid-year, pig prices experience a slight drop due to low demand. But unlike the annual rule, pig prices strongly increase in June and July because factories, industrial parks, schools, etc. have returned to stable operation after Covid-19, resulting in an increase in meat consumption needs.
The improvement in average expenditure and the narrowing of the price gap between pork and other alternative meat choices such as white chicken and color-feathered chicken are the reasons why pork is present in family meals more frequently.
One thing to note is that the supply of domestic pigs and breeding sows did not increase significantly compared to last year. African swine fever’s complicated developments and unusual heatwaves have many impacts on the pig industry, such as slow growth, easy infection, lack of clean water for production, and lack of electricity to operate the barn. This leads to a decrease in productivity and the supply of commercial hogs.
The market has shown many positive signs as the price of pigs fluctuated around VND 60,000/kg in the last two months.
Although the situation of African swine fever remains complicated, Hoa Phat still ensures pig output, taking advantage of opportunities to sell commercial pigs at good prices. The price of animal feed has cooled down since the beginning of the second quarter of 2023, helping to improve the profit margin of livestock.
Rearing households have begun to re-herd, and Hoa Phat is also committed to ensuring the supply of quality piglets for farmers. The company’s pig farm is considered one of the most modern breeding facilities in Vietnam today. Hoa Phat aims to ensure biosecurity in barns, improve product quality and competitiveness, and master seed production technology.
In the near future, Hoa Phat will promote the 3M Hoa Phat commercial pig breed, continue to maintain meat quality in terms of color and plasticity, improve the ratio of dressed weight. The goal is to maintain the brand and price both at the top of the market. The company also has its focus on selling more gilts to the market to help farmers re-herd and access high-quality, high-yield breeding pigs.
Starting livestock production operations in 2015, Hoa Phat Development of Livestock Joint Stock Company specializes in supplying high quality breeding pigs and meat pigs to the market. Hoa Phat's pig farm system is present in the provinces of Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Bac Giang, Thai Binh, and Binh Phuoc, applying large-scale, modern, closed breeding models and is certified with VietGAP standards. In 2023, Hoa Phat will focus on developing herds to put Long Ha farm cluster (Binh Phuoc) into operation with a scale of 5,000 sows and nearly 47,000 pigs per litter.
