On the afternoon of April 11, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Le Minh Ngan chaired a working session with relevant agencies to review and discuss the organizational plans for Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2025, held annually in response to World Oceans Day.
For this year, the proposed theme is “Green technology for sustainable oceans", which underscores Vietnam’s strong commitment to integrating environmental protection into the development of its maritime economy. Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2025 is not only a key communication campaign but also a practical activity contributing to the implementation of the Strategy for the Sustainable Development of Vietnam’s Marine Economy toward 2030, with 2045 vision.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, Director of the Center for Natural Resources and Environmental Communication (CNREC), announced that activities in response to Vietnam Sea and Islands Week and World Oceans Day will be held nationwide from June 1 to 8, 2025. These events aim to raise awareness, engage the public, and promote sustainable development practices related to the marine and coastal environment.
The CNREC, in coordination with the Vietnam Agency of Seas and Islands, has proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment take the lead in organizing national-level events in collaboration with the People's Committee of Quang Binh Province and other relevant agencies. These key events are scheduled to take place in Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province, from June 6 to 7, 2025. The national launching ceremony is expected to be held on June 7, 2025, in Dong Hoi, with the participation of representatives from ministries, sectors, local authorities, and international organizations.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Toan, Director General of the Vietnam Agency of Seas and Islands, two significant thematic workshops will be organized as part of the event’s framework. The first, titled “Sharing experiences on offshore wind power development in Vietnam", will focus on policy dialogue, legal frameworks, strategic planning, and international best practices in offshore wind energy – a sector expected to play a pivotal role in Vietnam’s green marine energy transition.
The second workshop, “Green technology for sustainable oceans", will showcase advanced models of the blue economy, such as green logistics, high-tech aquaculture, and renewable ocean energy. It will also feature innovative initiatives and discussions on developing human resources for the marine sector, with the goal of fostering a sustainable and resilient ocean economy.

In addition to the main events, the newspaper also plans to host several media and social charity activities in Quang Binh Province, which will take place throughout the period of the Vietnam Sea and Islands Week.
In his leadership speech at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Le Minh Ngan highlighted that Vietnam Sea and Islands Week is not just an opportunity for public awareness campaigns, but also a key moment to assert Vietnam’s leadership role in the sustainable development of the marine economy, the integration of green technology, and the safeguarding of national sovereignty and maritime resources. Moreover, the Week is an opportunity to reinforce Vietnam's commitment to protecting its marine environment and ensuring the sustainable management of marine resources for future generations.
Deputy Minister Le Minh Ngan called on all relevant units and agencies to urgently finalize their communication content, create a detailed organizational plan, and work closely with the People’s Committee of Quang Binh Province to ensure the success of the event.
