GreenFeed Vietnam Joint Stock Company (GREENFEED) is one of Vietnam's largest integrators in the field of swine production. The company has just successfully exported to Cambodia a batch of pig breeds GF24 (Camborough®48).

Pig breed GF24 (Camborough®48) is the result of many years of research on developing the quality on breeders and transferring genetic engineering technology between GREENFEED and the global leading company on genetic technology (PIC) of America.

Pig breed GF24 (Camborough®48) has many preeminent features such as high adaptability to all livestock conditions from the very first stage of entry; have resistance to E.coli strain F18; stable productivity from the first time of parturition with 31 to 32 weaned pigs or sows per year (under the farming conditions at GREENFEED farm); piglets develop uniformly and be healthy; rapidly seedling time from 3 to 5 days with a good condition; and piglets raised for meat with fast growth.

On April 19, GREENFEED's first batch of export pigs to the Cambodian market has implemented with more than 2,400 high-quality breeding pigs from Cu Jut farm, Dak Nong, Vietnam. The transportation had taken place for more than 10 days and strictly complied with veterinary regulations as well as prevention of COVID-19 when exporting across the border.

In Cambodia, pig breed GF24 (Camborough®48) will be raised on a self-contained farm, with an area of 83 hectares, and spacious barns, advanced and modern facilities following the farming model of GREENFEED and the PIC’s criteria.

Once officially put into operation, GREENFEED’s farm in Cambodia will be expected to reach 2,200 piglets, 300 pig breeds GF24 (Camborough®48) and 2,200 porkers on production per month, which is an adequate supply to the Cambodian market.

This export of the pig breeds is aimed at realizing the vision of bringing the effective livestock solutions of GREENFEED under a new, modern and sustainable model, including animal nutrition solutions; international quality standard seed solutions; and housing, livestock management, biosecurity, and veterinary medicine solutions.

The export also marked important milestone, demonstrating GREENFEED's efforts to bring international quality pig breeds and comprehensive, and effective breeding solutions to the regional market.

In Vietnam, GREENFEED has completed the closed chain FEED - FARM - FOOD with the launch of the end product - G Kitchen cool meat brand and processed products under the same brand.

With a large market share gained, GREENFEED recently introduced the brand MAMACHOICE, promising to bring quality and accessible food to the majority of consumers in different regions. The launching event of the MAMACHOICE brand aims to provide an output solution for farms using the full set of green livestock solutions of GREENFEED in Vietnam.

Cambodia's pig industry is also relatively small, in the region of 200,000 sows, according to report in 2016. There are of course many backyard producers but there are an increasing number of large commercially run enterprises.

In Cambodia, pigs are often cheaper both in Vietnam and Thailand. So the Cambodian government imports live pigs to provide cheap pork for the consumer.

From 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries issued a directive on stepping up agricultural production promotion campaigns in a bid to increase food production and animal husbandry to meet domestic and international demand.

“We plan to produce 335,000 tonnes of meat by 2030 to fill the shortage and curb imports", Srun Sokhom, deputy director-general of the ministry’s General Directorate of Agriculture said.
