According to growers in Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, and Tien Giang, traders have been buying Ri6 durians type 1 at VND 120,000/kg, type 2 and type 3 are brought from VND 80,000 to 100,000/kg, higher than the price of the previous years by VND 40,000 - 50,000/kg.

Additionally, farmers have proactively implemented measures to cope with saline intrusion to protect their durian orchards, resulting in average yields of 3 - 3.5 tons of fruit/1,000m2. After deducting all expenses, farmers are making over VND 1 billion/ha in profit.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vinh Long province, there are currently over 4,000ha of durian cultivation in the province, with over 3,900ha yielding fruits and starting the harvest season.

The reason for the increase in durian prices is due to favourable conditions in the export market and the high demand during the hot season, coupled with limited supply.

However, the agricultural sector of Vinh Long province advises growers not to disrupt the supply chain despite the high durian prices, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with enterprises and cooperatives to maintain product quality and market stability, especially in the official export market.

At the same time, farmers should also refrain from expanding durian cultivation, especially in areas or terrains unsuitable for this type of tree. They should focus on improving the quality of durian products to meet export standards and requirements.
