DOVECO: Shifting technology toward a green environment

(VAN) Participating in the exhibition celebrating the 80-year tradition of the Agriculture and Environment sector, Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company (DOVECO) showcased a range of products utilizing new technologies.

Beyond its traditional lineup, DOVECO introduced visitors to two new offerings: Dong Giao Sweet Corn and Dong Giao Pineapple Juice, both produced under a technological innovation initiative to foster a green environment.

While previous packaging methods relied on tin cans, which consume significant energy during production, are challenging to process post-use, and can negatively impact ecosystems and human health - DOVECO has transitioned to Tetra Recart paper carton technology. This eco-friendly alternative facilitates easier recycling and biodegradation.

Beyond the convenience of post-use disposal, packaging fruit and vegetables in paper cartons reduces carbon emissions during production by using renewable materials. This marks a significant pivot, affirming DOVECO's commitment to sustainable development across its production, processing, and distribution value chain.

Specifically, the Dong Giao Sweet Corn is packaged in 380-gram cartons with a grain ratio of approximately 63%. The raw materials are entirely natural, free from preservatives and artificial colors.

The golden corn kernels are cultivated on the Moc Chau plateau in Son La, a region blessed with a cool year-round climate that enhances the corn's characteristic sweetness and aroma. Processed and packaged in Tetra Pak Sweden's vegetable-specific paper cartons, making its Viet Nam debut, the product retains its full natural flavor and nutrients.

Sweet corn offers convenience for modern lifestyles; it can be eaten immediately after opening or quickly processed into various dishes such as stir-fries, fried corn, salads, or soups.

Similarly packaged using Tetra Pak Sweden's paper carton technology, Dong Giao Pineapple Juice preserves the fresh taste and natural nutritional content. This product is derived from the renowned MD2 pineapple variety grown in the fields of Dong Giao (Ninh Binh), where unique climate and soil conditions yield fragrant, ripe fruit.

Like the corn, DOVECO fresh pineapple juice contains no flavorings, preservatives, or artificial colors. The packaging is designed to be compact and portable, making it convenient for work, travel, or picnics and allowing use anytime, anywhere.

Currently, DOVECO's processing capacity stands at nearly 220,000 tons of products per year. Total revenue for the 2020 - 2025 period exceeded VND 12,000 billion, with export turnover reaching USD 436 million - figures that speak volumes about the company's internal strength and the efficiency of continuous investment throughout its innovation journey.

Building on this modern production foundation, DOVECO's products have confidently reached out to the world, conquering markets through stable quality and the ability to meet strict standards.

DOVECO's market footprint now spans over 50 countries, conquering the most demanding markets such as Japan, the EU, Australia, and Israel, while maintaining growth momentum in the US and the Middle East and rapidly expanding in Northeast Asia.

Domestically, revenue has exceeded VND 1,100 billion, with a distribution system covering major supermarkets such as Winmart, Big C, and Co.opmart, serving as a testament to the brand's reputation and consumer trust.

In addition to pineapple, the company has successfully piloted new crops such as Nozawana mustard greens, pink bananas, chives, and spinach. Simultaneously, it has expanded raw material areas in Son La, the Northwest provinces, the Central Highlands, the Red River Delta, and the North Central Coast, ensuring that its three factories never face a shortage of fresh ingredients.

Participating in the exhibition celebrating the 80-year tradition of the Agriculture and Environment sector, Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company (DOVECO) showcased a range of products utilizing new technologies.

As of 2025, DOVECO has successfully established a "Golden Triangle" of processing centers strategically located across Vietnam's key raw material zones, cementing its status as a powerhouse in the deep-processing industry. The company currently operates three large-scale, state-of-the-art processing complexes. The headquarters in Ninh Binh serves as the historical hub focusing on diverse vegetable and fruit exports.

In the Central Highlands, the Gia Lai facility acts as a major gateway, tapping into the region's vast agricultural potential to specialize in passion fruit, bananas, and avocados. Completing the triangle is the Son La complex, the newest modern center in the Northwest, which serves as the primary processing point for mangoes, sweet corn, and spinach grown in the unique local microclimate.
