The conference saw the participation of nearly 130 delegates from 24 Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Mekong Delta, Southern Region, and Central Highlands, along with industry associations and businesses in agriculture and IT.

Currently, digital transformation has become a key strategy, opening opportunities for building smarter, more sustainable, and efficient agricultural models, ensuring Vietnam's agricultural standing on the global map.

According to Mr. Dang Duy Hien, Deputy Director of the Center for Digital Transformation and Agricultural Statistics, digital transformation has never been as widespread or effective as it is now, particularly in fields like forest management, irrigation, and disaster prevention.

"Digital transformation brings great benefits to production, operations, and transparency, especially as Vietnamese agricultural products aim to enter competitive and demanding export markets."

"We are also facing numerous impacts from climate change and changing consumer trends, requiring adaptation to stay competitive regionally and globally," said Mr. Dang Duy Hien, who added that 2024 will be a year for accelerating economic transformations, with the agriculture sector pioneering the application of digital transformation in agriculture.

To promote digital transformation, Mr. Dang Duy Hien emphasized that the agriculture sector must take a new approach, strongly applying technological solutions and widely adopting IoT platforms to collect, clean, and utilize data across all agricultural value chains—from soil preparation to planting, cultivation, harvesting, processing, and product distribution. Particularly, it must meet the stringent standards and requirements of importing countries.

At the conference, delegates engaged in in-depth discussions on current challenges and proposed solutions to accelerate the digitalization of the agriculture sector. This will help agencies, local authorities, industry associations, businesses, and cooperatives in the Mekong Delta and Southern regions better understand digital transformation in agriculture and spread digital technologies within the sector."

Delegates and experts evaluated the current situation and obstacles in the digitalization and application of digital technology in agriculture. They also shared experiences, practical models, and proposed solutions to drive digital transformation and technology adoption in the sector.

At the conference, the RiceMoRe rice production monitoring system was launched. This system was developed through a collaboration between the Department of Crop Production, the Center for Digital Transformation and Agricultural Statistics, and the International Rice Research Institute.

RiceMoRe enhances the ability to monitor, manage, and direct rice production efficiently. It is not only a breakthrough tool for managing production processes but also a significant step towards modern, sustainable agriculture.
