Applying digital technology to promote products

The conference on "Applying Digital Transformation in Developing Export-Oriented OCOP Products" aims to support businesses, cooperatives, and OCOP stakeholders in applying digital technologies to widely promote their products, increase sales, expand distribution channels, enhance product value, develop the domestic market, and reach out to international markets.

In recent years, the Vietnamese business community has increasingly focused on developing products that meet OCOP standards. This shift has had a positive impact on rural economic development, contributing to the transformation from small-scale agricultural production to value chain-based production aligned with standards, regulations, traceability requirements, and market demand. It has also helped unlock the potential of local land, products, and comparative advantages, especially cultural values unique to each region, to create integrated OCOP products.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director General of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade), stated that the agency has been consistently promoting, enhancing, and innovating its operations to flexibly adapt to new circumstances, thereby supporting enterprises in boosting production, trade, and exports. These efforts are regarded as a foundation for trade promotion activities in 2025, aiming to enhance Vietrade’s role as a bridge between businesses and markets, deliver practical outcomes, consolidate trust, and create momentum for enterprises.

Supporting businesses in developing market channels in the new context is currently one of Vietrade's top priorities. In fact, robust digital transformation activities in trade promotion have enabled Vietnamese exporters to reduce costs, shorten distances and times, accelerate transactions and order processing, and expand their market reach and potential customer base, thereby making a significant contribution to the country's impressive export achievements.

Accompanying enterprises to develop sustainable online export channels

Since 2023, the Vietrade, in collaboration with Alibaba.com, has implemented the "Vietnam National Pavilion" program. This is a strategic digital trade promotion model associated with the national brand, featuring a transparent selection process and a comprehensive support system, from training and consulting to market connectivity.

Through the Vietnam Pavilion, global enterprises can easily access the Vietnamese market. As of mid-2025, the program has attracted 200 outstanding enterprises from key export sectors, contributing to enhancing digital capabilities and promoting the image of Vietnamese products on global platforms.

Vietrade highly appreciates the role of Alibaba.com in promoting and organizing support, advisory, and training activities for Vietnamese enterprises, equipping them with skills and knowledge of online exports to enable sustainable business development.

This initiative has helped businesses and OCOP stakeholders build their brands, promote and introduce products, and expand markets towards the goal of effective and sustainable development of OCOP products on Alibaba.com in particular and on digital platforms in general.

The OCOP program has made notable and positive contributions to rural economic development. It has become a core policy with strong spread, implemented widely and synchronously, recognized as a prioritized solution in rural economic development, and associated with the new-style rural development program in all localities across the country.

As of July 2025, Vietnam has recorded 17,068 OCOP products rated three stars or higher, belonging to 9,195 OCOP stakeholders. Among them, 126 products have been recognized as five-star OCOP products at the national level. Many OCOP products now meet quality and food safety standards, feature diverse, environmentally friendly packaging and designs, and align well with market demands.

By embracing digital transformation and leveraging platforms like Alibaba.com, Vietnam is creating new opportunities for OCOP products to reach global markets. Through initiatives such as the Vietnam National Pavilion, businesses and OCOP stakeholders are gaining greater access to international markets, improving digital competencies, and building stronger brand identities. These efforts not only enhance export performance but also serve as a driving force for rural economic development and the success of the new-style rural development program nationwide.
