According to MARD, the production and fisheries industry is facing many difficulties. In the first three months of 2023, seafood exports reached $1.79 billion, down 29% over the same period last year.
The two main export items of the seafood industry are pangasius, reaching $422 million (down 33.1 percent), and shrimp reaching $578 million (down 39.4 percent). Thus, after only a short time, Vietnam marked a record seafood export milestone of $11 billion in 2022.

At the seminar, Fisheries Sub-Departments of many provinces and cities, aquaculture and seafood processing enterprises nationwide discussed solutions to raise the brand of Vietnamese shrimp, sustainable development of Ca Mau crab profession, and the model of aquaculture and tourism in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. In it, emphasis is placed on affirming the importance of linkage chains to bring success to the seafood industry.

In particular, the delegates focused on analyzing the effectiveness of aquaculture value chain development and the key to the success of Norwegian salmon from the director of the Asia Pacific region - Norwegian Seafood Council. At the same time, the workshop also noted opinions on the current situation and specific, practical, and sustainable development solutions for marine aquaculture.
