Today, domestic coffee prices recorded a sharp increase after two days of stability. According to a survey in the Central Highlands provinces, coffee prices range from VND 129,700 – 130,700/kg, up by VND 1,700 – 1,900/kg compared to the previous session. This is the highest price ever recorded in the domestic market.

Specifically:

  • Coffee price in Dak Nong: The highest price at VND 130,700/kg, up by VND 1,700/kg.
  • Coffee price in Dak Lak: Purchased at VND 130,500/kg, up by VND 1,700/kg.
  • Coffee price in Gia Lai: Recorded at VND 130,500/kg, up by VND 1,700/kg.
  • Coffee price in Lam Dong: Reached VND 129,700/kg, the strongest increase of VND 1,900/kg among the provinces.

This sharp increase is attributed to domestic supply disruptions due to the extended Lunar New Year holiday, while demand from export enterprises remains high. Farmers limiting sales during the holiday has also added upward pressure on prices.

On the global market, coffee prices continue to show mixed trends between the two major exchanges, London (Robusta) and New York (Arabica).

  • Robusta coffee prices (London): Robusta coffee prices dropped sharply in this morning’s session. The March 2025 contract fell $ 184/ton (-3.22%), down to $ 5,534/ton. Other contracts saw similar declines:
  • May 2025: Down $ 174/ton, now at $ 5,520/ton.
  • July 2025: Down $ 165/ton, now at $ 5,453/ton.
  • September 2025: Down $ 159/ton, now at $ 5,364/ton.

This marks the second consecutive decline for Robusta coffee after hitting a peak last week. The main reason is believed to be Vietnam’s market resuming trading after the Lunar New Year holiday, leading to increased selling pressure, along with investor adjustments after an overbought phase.

Arabica coffee prices (New York): In contrast, Arabica coffee prices continue to surge, setting a new record. The March 2025 contract rose 3.05 cents/lb (+0.81%), reaching 380.90 cents/lb. Other contracts also recorded positive gains:

  • May 2025: Up 3 cents/lb, reaching 374.35 cents/lb.
  • July 2025: Up 2.15 cents/lb, reaching 366.20 cents/lb.
  • September 2025: Up 1.60 cents/lb, reaching 356.15 cents/lb.
