Global coffee prices today remain stable. Over the past week, both the London and New York exchanges saw sharp increases. Specifically, Robusta for November delivery surged by $ 423/ton, while Arabica for December delivery increased significantly by 19.5 cents/lb.

According to Cemaden, Brazil’s disaster monitoring centre, the country is facing the most severe drought since 1981. Low rainfall has damaged coffee trees during the flowering stage, reducing the outlook for the 2025/26 Arabica crop.

Somar Meteorologia, Brazil’s meteorological agency, reported on Monday that the Minas Gerais region received about 9.8 mm of rain last week, which is only 62% of the historical average. Minas Gerais accounts for about 30% of Brazil’s Arabica production.

In Brazil, low rainfall and high temperatures are expected throughout September, increasing the risk of negative impacts on the development of the 2025/26 crop, as accumulated rainfall and soil moisture in many areas remains below average.

In Vietnam, after experiencing dry weather earlier this year, higher-than-expected rainfall due to the ongoing La Nina phenomenon could hinder the harvest and affect the quality of the 2024/25 crop.

Thus, global coffee prices remained unchanged on 09/30/2024, compared to the previous day.
