According to a report by the Agency of Foreign Trade (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in May 2024, Vietnam's coffee exports reached 95,000 tons, valued at $ 400 million, a 36.5% decrease in volume but a 3.9% increase in value compared to May 2023.
In total, for the first five months of 2024, Vietnam's coffee exports reached 833,000 tons, valued at $ 2.9 billion\, a 3.9% decrease in volume but a 43.9% increase in value compared to the same period last year.
It is estimated that in May 2024, the average export price of Vietnamese coffee reached $ 4,208/ton, an 11.7% increase compared to April 2024 and a 63.6% increase compared to May 2023.
Overall, for the first five months of 2024, the average export price of Vietnamese coffee is estimated at 3,482 USD/ton, a 49.9% increase compared to the same period last year.
In the first four months of 2024, Vietnam increased exports of all types of coffee. Among them, Robusta coffee is the main export type, with a volume of approximately 650.57 thousand tons, valued at over $ 2 billion, a 0.4% increase in volume and a 58.4% increase in value compared to the same period last year.
The export proportion of Robusta coffee accounted for 82.17% of the total volume and 82.15% of the total value in the first four months of 2024. Therefore, the growth in Robusta coffee exports significantly contributed to the overall growth of the industry.
In the first four months of 2024, the average export price of Vietnamese Robusta coffee reached $ 3,157/ton, a 57.8% increase compared to the same period last year. Notably, the average export price of Robusta coffee to all major markets increased significantly, such as: the average export price of Robusta coffee to Germany increased by 50.4%, reaching $ 3,211/ton; to Italy increased by 59.2%, reaching $ 3,085/ton; and to Spain increased by 135.8%, reaching $ 3,164/ton.
