Ben Tre invests more than VND 500 billion in high-tech shrimp farming area

On August 26, Mr. Le Minh Truyen - Deputy Director of the Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development in Ben Tre Province - said that the board will initially invest in completing the infrastructure of the high-tech shrimp farming area in Ba Tri District (Ben Tre Province), with a total investment of about VND 164 billion.

The infrastructure includes 6 roads with more than 18km, about 24km of 3-phase medium voltage power lines, and many bridges and culverts in the project. The infrastructure aims to serve about 2,000 hectares of high-tech shrimp in Ba Tri District.

In Binh Dai District, the project will start construction in September 2024 with a total investment of about VND 80 billion.

Thanh Phu district alone has the largest total investment capital of about VND 300 billion. The Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Agricultural Works and Rural Development of Ben Tre province proposes implementation from 2026 to 2030.

According to the resolution of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee, by 2025, the province strives to raise 4,000 hectares of high-tech shrimp.

After over 3 years of implementation, Ben Tre has developed more than 3,430 hectares, reaching 85.76% of the plan; shrimp farming output is estimated at 160,188 tons. To develop the high-tech shrimp farming model, the province has recently focused on investing in infrastructure for farming areas in coastal localities.

Ben Tre province aims to develop the high-tech shrimp farming area to 4,000 hectares by 2025, with shrimp output reaching 144,000 tons; By 2030, develop about 5,800 hectares, with an output of 208,800 tons. The high-tech shrimp farming area is mainly concentrated in coastal districts, including Binh Dai, Thanh Phu and Ba Tri.

In particular, by 2030, the province will form 5 high-tech shrimp farming areas that are invested by enterprises, with a scale of 3,350 hectares concentrated in Binh Dai, Ba Tri, and Thanh Phu districts.

At the same time, Ben Tre will take advantage of the invested infrastructure to develop high-tech shrimp farming areas with farms and households with an area of ​​2-10 hectares in Binh Dai, Ba Tri and Thanh Phu districts.
