VNUA cooperates to provide high-quality manforce for Japan

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss and explore potential collaborations in the area of human resource supplies.

A significant and practical initiative has been launched to promote a program aimed at facilitating the exchange of agricultural workforce and members of agricultural cooperatives between countries, with a focus on absorbing knowledge from nations with well-established agricultural practices. The inclusion of the activity can be found in Resolution No.26/NQ-CP, which was issued on February 27, 2023. This resolution is part of the Government's action program, which aims to implement Resolution 19-NQ/TW. The latter resolution was adopted by the Party Central Committee (term XIII) on June 16, 2022, and focuses on the development of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas until 2030, with a long-term vision extending to 2045.

During the meeting, Director Nguyen Thi Lan of the Vietnam National University of Agriculture highlighted the university's commitment to fostering collaboration between the two parties. The university has recently obtained a significant achievement by securing a license to facilitate the employment of Vietnamese workers abroad. The license, numbered 899/LDTBXH-GP and issued by the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs on December 23, 2022, serves as a testament to the university's successful efforts in this regard.

This is the first university in Vietnam to be granted such a permit by the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs. This permit holds great importance as it marks a milestone for the university and its operations within the country.

Following the visit and working visit of Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, Kashino Toshihiro, to the training facility in February 2023, the University's Director has announced that recruitment efforts have commenced for individuals interested in working in Miyazaki Prefecture. With the assistance of JICA expert, Mr. Okuda Yoshiki, the initiative aims to attract candidates who wish to contribute to the region's agricultural and fisheries sectors.

In the initial phase of recruitment, a total of 37 candidates actively took part, vying for the available positions. Following a rigorous selection process, a final tally of 13 candidates emerged as the chosen few, officially securing their spots. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to engage in foreign language and professional training at the University, receiving instruction from both JICA's long-term and short-term experts, as well as the University's own lecturers.

During the meeting, Mr. Kohno Sunji, the Governor of Miyazaki Prefecture, addressed the attendees and discussed the recent developments in the region. He highlighted the signing of a cooperation agreement in October of the previous year, which focused on human resource training and assurance. Mr. Sunji expressed the intention to officially recognize this agreement and its significance for the prefecture.

December marks the arrival of the inaugural trainee at the esteemed Academy's agricultural facilities. Japan is currently contemplating the enhancement of working skills for foreign workers, as well as the implementation of a skill training system for interns. The province is currently grappling with a significant accommodation of human resources, which has emerged as a pressing concern within certain industries. In a recent statement, Governor Miyazaki expressed his hope for the emergence of talented young individuals from Vietnam.

Mr. Kohno Suni expressed his enthusiasm for engaging with students both in general and specifically those who would be visiting Miyazaki. Following the completion of the program, Mr. Suni conveyed his eagerness to interact with this demographic, highlighting his commitment to fostering meaningful connections with the student community.

Miyazaki Prefecture, renowned for its agricultural prowess in Japan, shares striking climatic similarities with Vietnam. Agriculture in Miyazaki Prefecture encompasses a range of thriving industries, including livestock and greenhouse cultivation. The region is renowned for its production of high-quality beef, pork, cucumber, bell pepper, mango, and various other agricultural products.

Miyazaki Prefecture, located in Japan, has emerged as a prominent player in the agricultural sector, boasting a substantial total agricultural output value of approximately 334 billion yuan.

This impressive figure has secured Miyazaki Prefecture a commendable sixth position in the national rankings, as reported by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries. The cultivation of yellow oranges and cucumbers takes the top spot in the country. Japan's livestock industry sees beef taking the top spot, while the rearing of pigs and chickens secures a close second position.
