Vietnam’s rubber export to China grows strongly

(VAN)- Rubber shipments from Vietnam to China reached US$433 million in the first two months of 2021, marking a year-to-year increase of 65.1 per cent.

According to China Customs, in the first two months of this year, China spent US$1.87 billion importing rubber, marking an increase of 13.8 per cent compared with that of the same period last year. 

Particularly, China spent US$ 433.97 million importing rubber from Vietnam in the first two months of this year. The sum is 65.1 per cent higher than that of the same period last year.

Vietnamese rubber now accounts for 23.18 per cent of the total value of imported rubber in China while Thailand – China’s biggest rubber supplier - gains 29.29 per cent of China’s rubber import value.

While China imported more rubber from Vietnam in the first two months of 2021, it reduced rubber importation from Thailand.

In the first two months of this year, rubber shipments from Thailand to China cost $548 million, marking a decline of 17.4 per cent compared with that of the same period last year.

According to the General Department of Việt Nam Customs, in the first quarter of this year, Vietnam exported 290,000 tonnes of rubber to China, marking an increase of 103.1 per cent in volume and 128 an increase of 128 per cent in value.
