Vietnam's first enterprise to produce hemp yarn

(VAN) An Phuoc - Viramie Group is the first enterprise in Vietnam to make yarn from hemp with a closed production process.

An Phuoc - Viramie Group was formerly An Phuoc Import-Export Production Development Investment Joint Stock Company. Established in 2015, An Phuoc - Viramie Group is proud to be the first enterprise in Vietnam to build a closed model to develop the AP1 green hemp material area and produce hemp yarn.

The Group wants businesses in the garment industry in Vietnam to be proactive in producing raw materials, regardless of imported materials from abroad.

After five years of establishment and development, An Phuoc - Viramie Group has become a prestigious partner of many agriculture scientists, fashion designers, domestic and foreign enterprises of the textile industry, is a reliable companion of Vietnamese farmers, and is always ready to cooperate for mutual development.

With a closed production process from the raw material area to the factory, modern machinery lines, and a rigorous production process under the strict supervision of leading international experts. An Phuoc - Viramie Group creates high-quality yarn products for domestic and international markets.

To ensure the best quality for all products before being supplied to the market, An Phuoc – Viramie Group always focuses on and strictly controls incubation, crop cultivation techniques, and each stage in the production process following specified quality standards.

An Phuoc - Viramie hemp factory is a project linking cultivation and processing, linking agriculture with industry with a capacity of 10,000 spindles per year, corresponding to 1,700 tonnes of hemp yarn each year and 1,400 tonnes of hemp/cotton per year.

Since coming into operation in 2020, the factory has contributed to realizing the chain of production, processing, and consumption of products in the western mountainous districts of Thanh Hoa province.

The remarkable point is that with the closed model, An Phuoc - Viramie hemp factory can proactively source seed for farmers, then provide technical guidance and output products. Currently, dry hemp yarn has a price of VBN 47,000 per kilogram.

Currently, the factory is producing product batches that meet the standards and are tested for quality. In the first quarter of 2021, the factory will officially come into operation, reaching 30% of capacity, and is expected to operate at 100% capacity in the fourth quarter of 2021.

According to the factory representative, An Phuoc - Viramie Group will focus on high-quality product lines oriented to the mid-range segment and above. In which, focus on exporting to Europe, Japan, USA, China, and domestic market.

The construction of a hemp factory by An Phuoc - Viramie Group and a raw material area marked a pioneering step in the value chain of hemp yarn production in Vietnam.

An Phuoc - Viramie Group is protected with exclusive ownership of the AP1 Gai Xanh variety selected by experts at the Genetic Institute with high yield and superior fiber quality for high-end product lines.

Currently, hemp fiber has the advantage of being a natural and safe textile material for consumers' health, based on the development of raw material areas with competitive advantages in terms of production value in the agricultural industry. Hemp yarn tends to grow in demand globally due to its benefits in characteristics and market segmentation for mid-to-high-end product lines.

Meanwhile, Vietnam has native hemp, so it has the advantage of natural conditions for hemp cultivation and efforts to research and apply science and technology to cultivate high-quality hemp materials intensively. And An Phuoc - Viramie Group hopes hemp weaving will develop based on Vietnam's traditional fabric weaving.

Besides the above advantages, An Phuoc - Viramie Group also faces many difficulties when developing raw material areas because raw material areas are concentrated mainly in mountainous regions and ethnic minorities.

It is difficult to change old farming practices from extensive to intensive farming while farming conditions, infrastructure, and transportation are still tricky. In addition, smallholder farmers have limited initial investment capital and have no knowledge and experience in hemp cultivation.

Even so, An Phuoc - Viramie Group is still oriented to develop into a leading corporation in the research and production of hemp yarn, high-quality garments from hemp and determined to constantly innovate to create an ecosystem of high-quality products for the domestic textile industry and international markets based on the sustainable development of the hemp value chain in Vietnam.

An Phuoc - Viramie Group is oriented to develop into a Science - Agriculture - Trading Service group on research and production of high-quality yarn from green hemp. The Group constantly innovates and creates high-quality products to serve the Vietnamese textile industry and the international market.
