According to Ms. Ngo Tuong Vy, Deputy Director of Chanh Thu Fruits Import-Export Co., Ltd., Central Highlands provinces at the moment are constantly worried about the output of agricultural products, while businesses are more concerned about input sources.

In the past year, having only operated in the Chinese market, Chanh Thu Company has brought Vietnamese durians to markets that are known to have strict requirements such as Japan or Australia. There have been many positive signs as consumers in other countries have changed their preference from Malaysia’s Musang King durian to Vietnam's Ri6 durian.

“We’ve come to a conclusion that durian fruit will be the main export product in the near future, so the company has invested in a large-capacity factory (300-500 tons/day) in the Central Highlands. However, our biggest worry is still the source of input materials. We hope that Dak Lak province can provide Chanh Thu 3,000 tons of durian in the next season, helping to build a mindset of stable supply among farmers," said Ms. Ngo Tuong Vy.

The representative of Chanh Thu Company said that the company will also assist cooperatives in terms of giving technical advice and being responsible for the raw material areas. Chanh Thu aims to develop a production link chain that can secure a stable supply to promote exportation.

"We are striving to build a brand of 5-star OCOP durian products then promote to difficult but extremely promising markets such as USA and Japan," said Ms. Vy.

The Deputy Director of Chanh Thu Company also thinks that Central Highlands’ passion fruit is a product worthy of attention. The world holds a large demand for fresh passion fruit, so in order for Vietnam to successfully export this product, a set of projects to support post-harvest preservation is essential.

Speaking at the forum “Connecting production and consumption of agricultural products and OCOP products in the Central Highlands region in 2021” on September 25th, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam requested the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development to continue to grasp the situation regarding the focal points of agro-products, and they must "know it well" to promptly provide information to businesses. “There must not be contradictions. There can’t be cases when localities said there were a lot of goods in stock but businesses complained about the lack of production materials."

The representative of the Dak Lak People's Committee also shared in the forum that due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic the circulation between raw material areas, processing facilities and consumption establishments is facing difficulties. Dak Lak province currently has 20,000 tons of durians and 10,000 tons of avocados to harvest, and is in need of connections to soon consume them in order to get the best price.
