Vietnam's cashew nut imports mostly come from Cambodia

(VAN) Despite a sharp decrease compared to the same period last year, cashew nuts imported into Vietnam are still mainly from Cambodia.

According to the General Department of Customs, in April, Vietnam imported 255,285 tons of cashew nuts, with a turnover of $373.4 million, down 22.6% in volume and 26.1% in turnover compared to the previous month.

Over the first four months of the year, Vietnam imported 728,731 tons of cashew nuts, with a turnover of more than $1.1 billion, a decrease of 38.6% in volume and 41.8% in turnover compared to the same period in 2021. 

Vietnam's cashew nuts imports in the first few months of this year are mainly from Cambodia. Over the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s cashew nuts imports from Cambodia reached 555,094 tons, with a turnover of $845.8 million.

Despite a sharp decrease in volume and turnover compared to the same period in 2021 (835,375 tons and nearly 1.4 billion USD), cashew nuts from Cambodia still accounted for 76.2% of the quantity and 76.75% of the import turnover of Vietnam’s cashew nuts imports.

Other major markets supplying raw cashew nuts to Vietnam in the first four months of this year include Tanzania (62,937 tons with a turnover of nearly $93 million); Ivory Coast (46,884 tons with a turnover of $67 million); Ghana (10,684 tons with a turnover of $14.3 million); Nigeria (5,575 tons with a turnover of $9.2 million) ...
