China is the world's largest bird nest consumer, accounting for about 300 tons/year for about 80% of the global market share. With the advantage of having a coastline of more than 3,260km, a sea surface area of over 1,000 million square kilometers, many islands and mountain ranges... Vietnam has great potential and is favorable for developing aquaculture and product processing bird's nest products.

"The quality of Vietnam's bird's nest products is considered superior to other countries in the region, so Vietnam's bird's nest products are very popular with Chinese customers. This is an opportunity for the Vietnamese bird's nest industry. In addition, Vietnam has a long border with China, which is very convenient in trading and transporting to the Chinese market to consume bird's nest products, creating a competitive advantage for Vietnamese bird's nest products compared to other countries," said Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien. 

"Vietnam's bird nest is developing very quickly. According to statistics, in 2017, there were only 7,000 bird nest houses. Still, there have been about 30,000 bird nest houses and some provinces have increased fivefold after five years," Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said.

The signing of the decree is an important and official step in negotiating the official export of bird's nests to China. Still, to be able soon to export bird's nest products to the Chinese market, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said that state management agencies and businesses need to continue to complete many procedures and organize the implementation of the requirements stated in the decree.

Deputy Minister Tien also suggested that the Department of Animal Health continue to exchange and negotiate to unify the form of quarantine certificate for exporting bird's nest products from Vietnam to China. Professional agencies guide and closely coordinate with localities, rearing, processing, and nesting establishments to expeditiously build and organize the monitoring of Newcastle disease on the safety of bird nest products as required in the decrease.

The production of oats in Vietnam is estimated at 200 tons per year. In the long term, localities need to have strategies and plans to sustain the Vietnamese bird's nest industry, ensure the preservation of the bird's nest brand, and meet the requirements of China and potential markets.

To help businesses proactively prepare to meet China's requirements for exported bird's nest products, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development organized a conference to disseminate the content of the decree to all provinces and cities having activities of raising, processing and associations, associations, processing and trading enterprises in bird nest products.
