According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia, 200 tons of frozen jackfruit type 1, equivalent to 1,000 tons of raw jackfruit, have been registered by importers, mainly VINREC Australia, to participate in the promotion program organised by the office.

Australia is a jackfruit growing country, but Vietnamese (frozen and processed) jackfruit has been listed by the Trade Office as a key product for promoting exports and building brands in the past two years.

As a result, in 2021, Vietnamese jackfruit exports to Australia grew up to 20 per cent compared to 2020.

To continue a bigger trade plan for Vietnamese jackfruit, Nguyen Phu Hoa, Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia worked with jackfruit importing companies. Notably, VINREC Australia has agreed with the Trade Office on the implementation of purchasing and processing Vietnamese jackfruit to achieve grade 1 quality.

This week and until the Lunar New Year, 30 tonnes of VINRECT-HT branded jackfruit (equivalent to 150 tons of raw jackfruit) are being in Australia.

In addition, about 10 tons of finished products of other enterprises also join the trade promotion programme. The remaining jackfruit, according to the promotion plan, will be purchased and processed in Vietnam by businesses.

VINREC agreed with the Trade Office to set up a sufficient warehouse in Australia with a large enough area, complete infrastructure, and purchasing process. It determined to make jackfruit become the key agricultural product of the company.

The Trade Office will continue to implement measures to promote Vietnamese jackfruit including introducing Vietnamese jackfruit into the supermarket system, continuously promoting on social networks and the Trade Office's channels, online exhibitions, and organising promotion, valuable rewards, and promotional e-books.

Consumers in Sydney, when invited to try Vietnamese jackfruit products, have assessed that Vietnamese frozen jackfruit still retains its crispiness, aroma like fresh jackfruit. Moreover, the frozen jackfruit is very convenient to store.

The Vietnam Trade Office in Australia said that jackfruit, as well as durian, avocado and passion fruit, are said very delicious when frozen. As long as the jackfruit remains crispy after freezing, it is a prerequisite to keep the taste and quality of the jackfruit intact. Therefore, it is necessary to promote communication to bring products closer to consumers.
