Vietnam Salt Industry Festival – Bac Lieu 2024 to take place in December

On the afternoon of July 1, Bac Lieu held the Conference of the Provincial Party Executive Committee to briefly summarize the implementation of work aspects in the first six months of the year and deploy the work program for the last six months of 2024.

Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee, said: The province's socio-economic situation in the first six months of 2024 continues to develop and achieve many important results. To be more specific, economic growth reached 5.74% over the same period and ranked 8th in the Mekong Delta region.

According to Mr. Pham Van Thieu, the new rural construction movement has been implemented quite effectively, reaching 105% of the plan. As of now, Bac Lieu province has 21 communes recognized as meeting advanced new rural standards and 8 communes meeting model new rural standards. The fields of agriculture, forestry, and fishery grew; industry - construction and export turnover increased over the same period.

In particular, total social investment capital increased by over 10% over the same period. In 6 months, there were 170 newly registered businesses, with a total registered capital of VND 1,590 billion, bringing the total number of businesses in the province to 2,700.

At the same time, accelerate the implementation progress of the project to build Bac Lieu into the country's shrimp industry, increase support, and create conditions for businesses and investors to speed up the construction progress of key projects in the province.

Promote the implementation of the investment project to build at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income people and industrial park workers in the 2021–2030 period, striving to complete 200 social housing apartments by 2024. Especially, prepare conditions to successfully organize the Vietnam Salt Industry Festival – Bac Lieu 2024, scheduled to take place in December.

In addition, social security policies for people with meritorious services, policy families, poor and near-poor households, and social protection subjects have been well implemented. The work of building the Party and the political system at all levels has had many innovations and effectiveness. National defense and security have been consolidated and maintained; the works of administrative reform, prevention of corruption, negativity, and waste, and resolution of complaints and denunciations have been focused and directed with a drastic spirit.
