Viet Nam - Laos sign MoU on agricultural science research

Recently, in Ha Noi, the Viet Nam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, led by Mr. Linkham Douangsavanh, the Lao Minister of Agriculture and Environment, who visited and worked at the Academy.

Joining the delegation were representatives of the leadership from various departments and agencies under the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute of Laos (NAFRI). On the Vietnamese side, representatives from the International Cooperation Department, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, along with leaders of the VAAS and several affiliated units, were present.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Director of the VAAS, emphasized that the visit is an opportunity for both sides to enhance exchange, share experiences, and continue to promote cooperation relations in scientific research, technology transfer, and agricultural development between Viet Nam and Laos.

In response, Dr. Phetmanyseng Xangsayasane, Director General of the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute of Laos (NAFRI), expressed his desire for both sides to continue expanding cooperation in scientific research, human resource training, and technical progress transfer, contributing to promoting the agricultural development of both countries.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Linkham Douangsavanh, Lao Minister of Agriculture and Environment, highly appreciated the traditional friendly relationship and good cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos, while acknowledging the effective cooperation results between VAAS and NAFRI in recent times.

The Lao Minister expressed his belief that the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutes will open a new phase of cooperation, creating a foundation for both sides to continue accelerating scientific research, human resource training, technology transfer, and implementing cooperative programs and projects, contributing to the sustainable agricultural development of both nations.

VAAS and NAFRI conducted the Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The Memorandum of Understanding is an important basis for both sides to continue promoting cooperative activities in scientific research, exchanging officials, sharing scientific information, and coordinating to develop and implement cooperative programs and projects, contributing to improving the efficiency of agricultural research and development in Viet Nam and Laos.

On this occasion, Mr. Linkham Douangsavanh awarded the Commemorative Medal of the Lao Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Son in recognition of his contributions to promoting agricultural cooperation between the two countries. Representatives of NAFRI also presented a souvenir to VAAS, demonstrating the friendship, attachment, and commitment to continuing to strengthen cooperative relations between the agricultural research agencies of Viet Nam and Laos.
