The Vietnam Trade Office in Australia (VTO) has recently accompanied enterprises to bring a shipment of 2,000 fresh wax coconuts from Tra Vinh to Australia for consumption. This is the first time Tra Vinh wax coconuts have been exported by plane to Australia in large quantities.

With a retail price of AUD 30-35/coconut (equivalent to approximately VND 600,000), Tra Vinh wax coconut is considered a high-priced Vietnamese agro-product in Australia and has been distributed after only a short time of marketing. The total value of goods sold in the Australian market is up to AUD 70,000 (more than one billion Vietnamese dong).

Tra Vinh wax coconut has in fact been exported to Australia in the past but only in small quantities and mostly frozen. This is the first time that 2,000 fresh wax coconuts have been exported by air. This shipment is the result of the determination of Uu Dam Co. Ltd, who has accompanied the VTO in the program "Branding and enhancing Vietnam’s agro-products value in Australia".

The Vietnam Trade Office in Australia has set up advertisements on social networks and is about to release an introductory publication for wax coconut cuisine, combined with other Vietnamese fruits. This will form a Vietnamese fruits consumption "combo" with the goal of Tra Vinh wax coconut gaining a stronger presence in Australia.

VTO has encouraged Australian connections to eat fresh wax coconuts with a little salt, combined with Australian wine, to give the coconut a taste like natural cheeses.

Another tip was to combine wax coconut with one or more fruits such as durian, dragon fruit, longan, dry coconut, jackfruit (frozen) to guarantee diners in Australia a full enjoyment of Vietnam's new delicacies.

The VTO in Australia said that in order to welcome the summer days in Australia and the reopening after Covid-19, one container of coconuts from Red Dragon Co. Ltd, in cooperation with importer 4waysfresh, is about to arrive in the states of South Australia and Western Australia. The Mekong brand is also urgently negotiating to bring two containers of fresh Ben Tre coconuts to Melbourne and Sydney.
