Tra Vinh University students get paid during internship in Israel

Tra Vinh University has recently sent four students studying in the second year at the Department of Agriculture to participate in a paid internship program in Israel. This program is within the framework of a cooperation agreement between Tra Vinh University and Israel's Arava International Center for Agriculture Training in training and developing high-quality human resources.

The Arava International Center for Agriculture Training (AICAT) was established in Sapir in 1994 with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture of Israel. Since then, every year the center trains over 1,000 students from academic institutes in over 13 countries around the world.

The Center’s program is based on the principle of "Learning by Doing". The combination of practical training on an advanced and modern farm, theoretical studies, professional guided tours of the area, and community life provides the students with a unique and rich experience.

Four students participating in the paid internship program in Israel include Thach Au Dong, Vo Thanh Huy, Nguyen Thanh Phat, and Nguyen Van Dang. They are second-year students in the Department of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture and Fisheries, Tra Vinh University.

According to the International Education Institute (IEI) affiliated with Tra Vinh University, students will practice at large farms in the fields of agriculture, animal health, and food technology for 11 months, from August 2023 to June 2024. When participating in the program, students will have practical experience and access to the world's most advanced agricultural production environment, supplementing their specialized knowledge and earning additional income.

The benefits of participating students include a paid internship, a place to eat, and a place to stay at the farm where they work. The students have access to and experience in the international environment. They are granted a training certificate after completing the program, and Tra Vinh University recognizes the completion of two Co-op modules according to the study program at the University.

In order to prepare students well for the program, the International Education Institute organizes refresher courses in English, soft skills and coordinates the selection of eligible students.

Tra Vinh University has implemented the internship program in Israel since 2007. Each year, Tra Vinh University coordinates the selection and sending of students to Israel to participate in internships. Recently, the Southeast Asian University Network (AUN-QA) has recognized two more training programs of Tra Vinh University that meet international education quality standards according to AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network) standards. - Quality Assurance). The two accredited programs this time are Medical Laboratory Technology and Pharmacology.

According to the report of external assessment results from AUN-QA, 2 training programs in Medical Laboratory Technology and Pharmacy major have met the standards, criteria, and requirements according to AUN-QA standards.

As of August 2023, the total number of training programs of the University that AUN-QA international standards have accredited is 7 programs. These programs include Agriculture, Fisheries, and Animal Health under the Faculty of Agriculture and Fisheries; Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Pharmacology under the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy; Khmer language belongs to the Southern Khmer School of Language - Culture - Art and Humanities.

Dao Huy Hoang - a Veterinary Medicine student - said: “The training to improve my English communication ability in the program helps me become more fluent and confidently present innovative and creative solutions for the community in marine environmental protection of Tra Vinh, to call for funding from foreign organizations".
