According to the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the 6th International Rice Conference (IRC 2023) will be held from October 16 to 19, 2023, at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila.

IRC 2023 is the world’s largest rice-focused event, which aims to establish a forum for actors in the rice value network. It is an occasion for these actors to discuss the challenges and opportunities as the rice industry plays a crucial role in transforming food systems.

IRC 2023 also provides a collaborative space to share and exchange new ideas and expand cooperation networks. This enables participants to explore innovative solutions and technologies for the entire rice industry, benefiting from farmers to retailers.

Furthermore, IRC 2023 will host prominent and diverse events, such as the International Rice Research Conference, the Sustainable Rice Platform Symposium, and the International Conference on Bacterial Blight of Rice.

Other activities within the framework of IRC 2023 include exhibition and trade promotion, which aim to influence research, production, processing and sales of rice and the global rice value chain.

IRC 2023 will welcome over 1,500 delegates, including representatives of businesses, international organizations, associations, scientists, and policy-makers from many countries specializing in the rice field. In addition, many international and domestic press agencies will attend and report on the event.

The previous IRC congresses were held in Beijing – China (2002), New Delhi – India (2006), Hanoi – Vietnam (2010), Bangkok – Thailand (2014) and Singapore (2018). Through five iterations, IRC has attracted a total of 7,400 delegates from 64 countries and territories, contributing 761 exhibition organizers and more than 2,000 scientific presentations.
