In particular, since 2022, when the two countries officially upgraded their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, bilateral relations have continued to grow stronger and more comprehensive across all fields, building a foundation of cooperation marked by friendship, trust, mutual respect, equality, and balanced interests.
On the political-security front, both sides have regularly maintained high-level visits, reinforcing strategic trust. In the economic sphere, Korea is now Vietnam’s largest foreign direct investor, its third-largest trading partner, and a leading provider of ODA. These achievements have turned Vietnam-Korea relations into a model of deep, effective cooperation, while also making a positive contribution to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the wider world.

Mr. Huynh Van Son, Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized that Korea has always been one of the most important economic partners of both Vietnam and Tay Ninh. Among more than 40 countries and territories with investment ties in the province, Korea currently ranks second in number of projects and fourth in total registered capital, with 276 projects amounting to over USD 2 billion. Korean enterprises have established themselves as reliable partners, contributing significantly to export growth, generating trade surpluses, and fostering sustainable socio-economic development in Tay Ninh.
“Tay Ninh has signed memoranda of understanding on economic, cultural, and social development with Chungcheongnam-do Province; Gimhae City (Gyeongsangnam-do); Chungju City (Chungcheongbuk-do); and Yangsan City (Gyeongsangnam-do). Korean enterprises have become trusted partners, accompanying the province’s development, playing a vital role in boosting exports, creating trade surpluses, and advancing sustainable socio-economic growth,” Vice Chairman Huynh Van Son underlined.
As part of the program, the Tay Ninh delegation held a private meeting with GS Group, a partner of VINACAPITAL GS ENERGY PTE. LTD., which has received approval in principle for the Long An I and Long An II LNG Power Plant projects. The projects, located on a site of approximately 45.6 hectares in Tan Tap Commune, Tay Ninh Province, carry a total investment capital of around USD 3.13 billion.

Mr. JongSun Park, Vice Chairman of GS Group, extended his greetings to the authorities of Tay Ninh Province and expressed his hope that the provincial government would continue to provide support so that the Long An I and Long An II LNG thermal power plants could soon come into operation. As these projects are among the province’s key priorities, Tay Ninh is paying close attention to ensure their timely implementation, contributing to the province’s socio-economic stability and development.
Mr. Huynh Van Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, stated that the province will continue to instruct relevant departments to complete the necessary procedures so the projects can be included in Tay Ninh’s list of key projects, scheduled to break ground simultaneously nationwide in the third phase on December 19, 2025, in celebration of the 14th National Congress of the Party.
According to Mr. Huynh Van Son, Tay Ninh not only seeks to attract investment capital but also wishes to learn from South Korea’s advanced development models, particularly the application of AI and modern technologies in industry, agriculture, urban development, and public administration, laying a solid foundation for both sides to achieve shared prosperity and long-term success.
Through the meeting, the two sides exchanged their visions, shared strengths, and developed ideas for cooperation, thereby creating favorable conditions for businesses of both countries to expand investment and trade. Photo: CTV.
“Tay Ninh respectfully invites the interest of businesses in strategic sectors such as semiconductors, processing and manufacturing, supporting industries, renewable energy, tourism infrastructure, and high-tech agriculture - areas with significant potential for growth and a pivotal role in the province’s development strategy in the coming period,” emphasized Mr. Huynh Van Son.
As part of the program, the delegation attended the Vietnam–Korea 2025 Local Cooperation, Investment Promotion, and Business Networking Forum in Goyang City, which opened up new opportunities for collaboration, fostered investment attraction, and enhanced Tay Ninh’s profile in the eyes of international partners.
Through the meeting, the two sides exchanged visions, shared strengths, and developed ideas for cooperation, creating favorable conditions for businesses of both countries to expand investment and trade in a substantive and effective manner, thereby contributing to the concrete implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and South Korea.
