Tan Cuong tea growing and processing knowledge become a national intangible cultural heritage

Tan Cuong tea growing and processing profession (Thai Nguyen city) has been established for approximately 100 years, with unique values. Tan Cuong tea area has a total area of more than 1,300 ha, with an output of more than 20,000 tons/year, concentrated mainly in three communes of Thai Nguyen city, namely Tan Cuong, Phuc Triu and Phuc Xuan.

Tan Cuong tea area is an area with specific conditions of soil and climate, especially suitable for the growth and development of tea plants that few places possess. Over hundreds of years of experience in growing and processing tea, the local people have created special tea products, characterized by exquisite taste.

With such special meanings, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 240/QD-BVHTTDL in 2023 recognizing the list of national intangible cultural heritage "Knowledge of cultivation and processing of Tan Cuong tea” for communes in Tan Cuong tea area. This is a meaningful event for the people, contributing to promoting Tan Cuong specialty tea for economic development.
