Additionally, there are currently 53 cooperatives in Soc Trang province agreeing and registering to participate in the production chain in the Project for 1 million ha of high-quality rice, with over 8,800 members. The expected product consumption area is more than 10,000 ha.
Mr. Tran Tan Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Soc Trang province, said that to facilitate the project implementation process, the province's agricultural sector hopes to receive support from MARD on demonstration models and application of mechanization in production. This is the basis to help local farmers reduce the amount of seeds sown, and fertilizer and well manage the collection of straw after harvest.
In addition, Soc Trang province also needs support for automatic water pumping equipment to apply the alternating wet and dry irrigation farming process.
After completing the registration of the Project for 1 million ha of high-quality rice, in the coming time, the Soc Trang Department of MARD will promote propaganda and provide specific instructions on implementation methods to localities. At the same time, the Department will grasp the difficulties in the implementation process, continuing to make recommendations to superiors with specific instructions to ensure unity when implementing the project.
