Since 2023, the Ca Mau Provincial Agricultural Extension Center has carried out the project to build the first VietGAP-oriented sea crab farming area with a scale of 30 hectares/15 households in My Binh hamlet, Phu Tan commune (Phu Tan district, Ca Mau province).

Participating in this model, households receive support from the Ca Mau Provincial Agricultural Extension Center. To be more specific, participating households are supported with 50% of the cost of seeds and essential materials; instructed on crab farming techniques according to VietGAP standards; and supported for fertilizers and microbial preparations.

According to the Ca Mau Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, this crab farming area is located in the locality's aquaculture planning; farming households are concentrated and required to have land use rights and comply with VietGAP standards.

After nearly 1 year of pilot implementation, the sea crab farming model according to VietGAP direction has shown very positive results. With 3 hectares of water surface for crab farming, after 7 months of stocking and farming, people pruned more than 350 kg, an increase of about 50 kg compared to previous traditional farming crops. With a weight of about 3 heads/kg and the selling price of VND 400,000/kg, the model's total revenue since the beginning of the year has reached VND 140 million.
