From 11-13 November, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien and the delegation of MARD had a working visit to the UK to promote agricultural trade activities in the second-largest market in Europe. Among the businesses participating in this trip, there is Vinacopper, which has only been operating in the agricultural field for 2 years.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Co, Chairman of Vinacopper's Board of Directors, said that the company currently has more than 3 ha in Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province, and Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province. They specialize in producing cantaloupe, baby melon, and seedless pumpkin.

“Our agro-products currently mainly serve high-end freeze-dried product processing facilities. In particular, freeze-dried cantaloupe is used exclusively for high-end gift boxes, while baby melons and pumpkins are processed and put into instant cereal packages", said Ms. Co.

Sharing about this trip to the UK, the Chairman of Vinacopper's Board of Directors said that the biggest purpose is to learn how the agricultural system of this country works, then learn about the demand for agro-products in Europe's second-largest market.

Despite being "new" in the field of agriculture, Vinacopper leaders affirmed that they are ready to invest and expand production to meet the requirements of the UK market.

"We will upgrade our production systems methodically to achieve the domestic and international certifications required by this market," Ms. Co affirmed.

Regarding her agricultural products, she said that she will focus on developing organic agro-products, and promoting quality but also not hesitate to expand the scale, providing large quantities if the market requires.

“Our goal is not mass-market products, but high-quality agricultural products, for export to demanding markets or for high-end retail chains in Vietnam”, Vinacopper's representative emphasized during his trip to the UK with Deputy Minister of MARD Phung Duc Tien.

Besides, Ms. Co also expressed her hope that through this trip, she could find the right development direction for the company's agricultural segment. She wishes to produce good products in large quantities and high quality in the coming time.

“If we can reach an agreement or better yet, a contract, we will be ready to expand our scale by tens or even hundreds of ha to produce agro-products that the UK market needs”, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vinacopper said.

In addition, with traditional business products such as copper bars and products made from copper, Vinacopper's representative also hopes that through this trip, she can learn more about the demand for these items in the UK. This is to expand business as a foundation for the development of organic agriculture.
