The scientific conference was held on the morning of October 26 at the University of Cuu Long.

The scientific conference with the theme of promoting the development of preservation technology, processing of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and agricultural mechanization in the Mekong Delta and surrounding areas is held by the University of Cuu Long in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology in economic and technical branches (Ministry of Science and Technology).

At the conference, Dr Nguyen Tien Tai, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology for economic and technical branches, said: The Ministry of Science and Technology is implementing an applied research and development program for processing technology, preservation of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and mechanization in agriculture (referred to as Program KC.07/21-30). This is a key program to apply and develop advanced technologies in the preservation, and processing of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products and by-products to enhance the value chain in production for domestic consumption and export; mastering the technology of manufacturing advanced machines, equipment, and equipment lines in farming, raising, preserving and processing agricultural, forestry and aquatic products and by-products in accordance with application conditions in Vietnam. At the same time, develop several synchronous application models of advanced technology and equipment to serve production along the value chain of agricultural, forestry and fishery products.

At the scientific conference, many presentations were presented around topics such as solutions for training human resources towards sustainable development and minimizing "carbon footprint" in the food processing industry; current status and development orientation of some key agricultural products of Vinh Long province and the Mekong Delta.

At the same time, the workshop proposes several priority tasks to support science and technology suitable for the Southwestern region; promote the development of Vietnam's fruit and vegetable industry; and agricultural mechanization in the Mekong Delta towards smart agriculture.

Dr Dang Thi Ngoc Lan, Vice-Rector of the University of Cuu Long emphasized: Developing high-tech agriculture and innovation in science and technology is considered one of the key and central solutions to solving challenges in agricultural development.

In the current context of economic integration, in Vietnam in particular and developing countries in general, technology is becoming the driving force of economic development, improving market competitiveness, and participating in international trade... Therefore, to help the agricultural product processing industry develop stably and sustainably, in the immediate and long term, it is necessary to improve technological levels and capacity.
