The program, implemented within the areas of protection forests, aimed to reduce the harmful effects of natural disasters, protect the environment and foster sustainable development.
The first trees were planted in the area of Ba Vi National Park in Khanh Thuong Commune on the outskirts of Hanoi. They were contributed by participants in the "BIDVRUN - For a Green Life" Race, which is part of BIDV's "1 million green tree" planting program and activities celebrating the 65th anniversary of BIDV Traditional Day (April 26, 1957 - April 26, 2022).

The "BIDVRUN - For a Green Life" Charity Running Race was held by BIDV in April, with the goal of continuing to raise awareness and establish healthy lifestyle for the community; encouraging BIDV's staff, customers and the public to contribute to BIDV's program of planting trees and building community flood-proof houses in flood-prone areas.
The participants’ achievements were converted into trees and the cost of building flood-proof houses. Expenses for planting trees and building the houses shall be sponsored by BIDV.
The sport event attracted 28,400 participants and raised VND5.6 billion to build flood-proof houses and purchase 64,000 trees (equivalent to VND3.2 billion). The "1 million green trees" program, launched by BIDV Bank, responded to the Prime Minister's "1 billion green trees" project in the 2021-2025 period that aims to protect the ecological environment, improve the landscape, respond to climate change, and develop the country's socio-economy.
