CPV Food Co., Ltd (CPV Food) on October 25 held a ceremony announcing the first export batch of processed chicken to Japan weighing 33.6 tons. Also at the ceremony, the Department of Animal Health (DAH) awarded the Health Certificate to the representative of CPV Food - a member of C.P. Vietnam.

The Japanese market is one of the potential markets and the “destination” for many businesses in exporting high quality food products.

To boost export of processed chicken to Japan, since its first days of operation in December 2020, the CPV Food has always committed to 100% traceability for entire supply chain from raw materials to product processing, implementing world-standard and best practice such as environment and animal welfare, meeting all strict criteria of Japan and other importing countries.

In particular, the DAH has cooperated with CPV Food to organize and implement avian disease surveillance programs, associated with food safety supply and monitoring chain. It complies with veterinary hygiene requirements with the slaughterhouse; food safety production for processing facilities. Since then, high quality export processed chicken products have been obtained, meeting food safety standards and meeting requirements of Japan.

During the period from May 31, 2022 to June 3, 2022, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) sent a veterinary inspection team to CPV Food's production facility in Binh Phuoc to evaluate the export chicken production chain.

MAFF issued on August 30 a document confirming: the CPV Food has ensured MAFF's veterinary hygiene requirements to export to the Japanese market.

Thus, with the strength and successful experience of C.P Group (Thailand) in exporting poultry meat products to the world market over the past 20 years, CPV Food has set out and is gradually realizing a mission pf "Improving the Vietnamese food quality to contribute to put Vietnam on the world map of branded poultry meat export."

Mr. Montri Suwanposri, General Director of C.P. Vietnam, said CPV Food's first export of chicken meat to Japan is a happiness and honor of C.P. Vietnam and CPV Food, marking the success of the group's Feed - Farm - Food value chain. This event begins the journey to bring processed chicken products of C.P. Vietnam to the Japanese market, and continue to promote exports to the company's current foreign markets.

Mr. Montri emphasized that on this special occasion, once again, CPV Food would like to sincerely thank Vietnamese agencies and departments, business partners and Japanese customers for their supports in efforts to achieve this goal today.

"Hopefully in the future, this cooperation relationship will deepen and develop, creating sustainable value between the parties," he said.

Tran Tue Hien, Chairman of Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that the export of CPV Food's first batch of processed chicken products to the Japanese market was a very important turning point, opening up many export potentials for livestock products. It is hoped that the company's safe chicken products will not only be exported to Japan, but also expanded to other markets such as Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Phung Duc Tien said that Japan is the third largest chicken import market in the world (after China and Russia). Each year, Japan has a demand to import about 1 million tons of chicken mea. The CPV Food has the largest chicken slaughtering and processing factory in Vietnam, therefore, Japan's approval to import chicken meat from CPV Food has brought a huge business opportunity for C.P. Vietnam in particular and the country's poultry industry in general.

CPV Food is a complex of modern and largest export chicken breeding and processing factories in Vietnam, with a total initial investment of USD250 million. In 2021, it exported more than 217 tons of processed chicken meat. In the first eight months of this year, it exported more than 442 tons of processed chicken to Hong Kong and Laos.

Opportunities to boost poultry product exports

CPV Food has become the second enterprise in Vietnam to export processed chicken to Japan, after Koyu & Unitek in 2017. Besides CPV Food, a number of other businesses are also promoting investment and development in breeding, processing for exports of chicken and poultry products in the coming time.

In Binh Duong, the DAH and the provincial authorities have been supporting VietSwan Poultry Joint Stock Company to build a chain of processing chicken meat for exports.

In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the Department has supported Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd. to build 2 chicken farms to supply material for slaughter plants in Dong Nai province for export to Japan.

In Tay Ninh, the DAH and the Tay Ninh Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health supported the construction of an egg production chain of the QL Vietnam Agroresourses Co., Ltd., for consumption in the domestic market and for export to Hong Kong.

Ms Tran Tue Hien said since 2019, Binh Phuoc Province has been coordinating with the MARD and the DAH to develop a disease-free chain and area for poultry for export in the area. conscious.

Currently, 6 districts, towns and cities in the province  including Dong Phu, Dong Xoai, Chon Thanh, Hon Quan, Binh Long and Bu Dang have been assessed and recognized by the DAH as safe from Avian Influenza and Newcastle disease.

According to the DAH, up to now, provinces and cities in the Southeast region have built and issued valid certificates for 959 disease-free poultry production facilities with resistance to one or more disease including bird flu and Newcastle.

The DAH reported that by October 2022, a total of 7 countries and territories (Japan, Hong Kong, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan) have accepted and allowed the import of Vietnamese processed chicken meat. On average, each year, Vietnam is exporting about 4,500 tons of processed chicken meat to those countries.
