With funding from the International Organization for Conservation of Nature (WWF-Vietnam), the Directorate of Fisheries, and the Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper, a pilot communication aimed at increasing awareness and changing attitudes toward ocean plastic waste among fisherman and aquaculturist communities, calling for social action, including most importantly, awareness, in which fishermen play a critical role.
"Reduce plastic right now, reduce plastic by myself" is a succinct, yet firm, and obvious statement to fishermen, who are critical to humanity's sustainable growth.
Individuals may take an active role in reducing their reliance on single-use plastic goods by following the 4T concept. This solution entails the following: refusing single-use plastic products whenever possible; reducing consumer demand and unnecessary plastic packaging; prioritizing products with friendly packaging; collecting and equipping garbage bags/tools on the boat, and collecting damaged fishing gear and transporting it to a designated area at the fishing port for treatment.
Within the context of the initiative "Reducing ocean plastic waste in Vietnam," individuals are urged to "recycle" proverbs and folklore into an environmental preservation message. A number of notable individuals, including writer Ngo Ba Luc, Miss Vietnam runner-up Hoang My, and Mr. Ba Duy, the father of "The Dau House," all shared their tales and experiences with recycling and reusing household plastic garbage, spreading the movement's proverbs about "recycling."
To inspire young consumers - who play an important role in the formation of green consciousness and a zero-waste lifestyle, singer P.Windy composed and performed the rap song "Reducing plastic right now, reducing plastic by myself” with a youthful and joyful melody.
The song is an interesting and amazing blend of modified old folk songs and new young melodies with a quick pace, with the intention of awakening each individual's feeling of responsibility for the conservation of the environment and marine ecosystems.
The song swiftly garners the support and attention of a huge number of youthful listeners.
Additionally, WWF-Vietnam cooperated with artists to create the song "For a green life" and the lyric "Please listen" (based on the folk tune Ly cay bong), which include elements of folklore and express environmental preservation principles.
