One Health is a multi-sectoral approach that integrates agriculture, health and the environment to ensure the best health outcomes for humans, animals, and the environment.
The One Health High-Level Expert Panel of the UN Quadripartite organizations has expanded the definition of the One Health approach to include plant health and a broader perspective on ecosystems, nutrition, and welfare.
However, the spread of diseases worldwide remains unpredictable, particularly with emerging and re-emerging diseases. Zoonotic diseases are also returning to Vietnam.
Since the beginning of this year, Vietnam has reported two cases of A/H5 avian influenza in humans. These are the first positive cases since February 2014. This highlights the urgency of implementing the One Health approach in this context.
Over the past 10 years, One Health has been strongly promoted in Vietnam through international cooperation and the participation of various stakeholders. To better understand this method, its applications and the conditions necessary for practical implementation, the Vietnam Agricultural Newspaper has invited leading experts to the talk show.
