Vietnam's reputation on the world agricultural map

HortEx Vietnam has become the most significant annual, professional meeting place in Southeast Asia for businesses, experts, and gardeners in the vegetable, flower, and fruit industry while helping Vietnamese companies access advanced technology in the world, contributing to improving quality, efficiency of production, processing and trade connections, expanding the domestic market, and promoting exports.

Some countries and territories like the Netherlands, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam have pavilions at the exhibition. In particular, the scale of Vietnamese booths from Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Agricultural Park and the provinces of Dong Thap, Long An, Binh Thuan, and Ninh Thuan stood out at the exhibition.

According to the Organizing Committee, HortEx Vietnam 2024 attracts more than 8,000 trade visitors from 30 countries and territories.

In the opening speech, Mr. Kuno Jacobs, Director of Nova Exhibitions, HortEx Vietnam 2024 Organizing Committee, shared: "In the context that the world is facing many difficulties and challenges in politics and economics, and environment, HortEx Vietnam is still an important "bright spot" of the agricultural industry in the region. In 2023, Vietnam's vegetable, tuber, and fruit exports grew dramatically, reaching an impressive record of US$ 5.6 billion. With rich agricultural products and growing industry, Vietnam will gradually become an important and prestigious factor on the world agricultural map."

According to Mr. Kuno Jacobs, from the previous exhibition, HortEx Vietnam has signed a cooperation agreement with IPM - the world's leading horticultural exhibition held annually in Esen, Germany, and the German Agricultural Association to organize HortEx Vietnam together with Agritechnica Asia starting in 2025.

HortEx Vietnam will continue to expand its operations in the region to create the best opportunities to serve the Vietnamese market and the entire Asian region. Simultaneously, it helps strengthen the close coordination of horticulture and floriculture in the countries' agricultural sector.

HortEx Vietnam goes hand in hand through each organization with rich, practical, and influential programs and activities to benefit participating businesses and visitors.

In addition to displaying products and technology at booths, HortEx Vietnam 2024 also attracts specialized visitors and purchasing units through many activities throughout the exhibition, such as seminars and export forums, the program "Potential Buyers", the international flower display area, the conference "Sharing experiences of gardeners", and the first "Export fruit supply fair of Southeast Asia" was held organization.

International cooperation towards sustainable agriculture

Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam, Daniel Stork, said that HortEx Vietnam has attracted many vital businesses in the domestic and international vegetable, flower, and fruit industries. In particular, the Netherlands has the most significant number of companies participating in the exhibition, with nearly 30 businesses.

According to Mr. Daniel Stork, 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Vietnam and the Netherlands on sustainable agriculture and food security. In agriculture and farming, the Netherlands is famous for its expertise, creativity, innovation, advanced technology, and input materials; Vietnam has much potential for production and development.

"Vietnam's agricultural industry is developing rapidly, with production systems gradually shifting from traditional output in fields to protected farming, applying high technology. The Netherlands and Vietnam are promoting strong cooperation towards sustainable and circular agriculture and farming to create more prestige in the international market," Mr. Daniel Stork affirmed.

Mr. Nguyen Van Muoi, Deputy Head of the Southern Branch - Vietnam Horticultural Association, said that the role of gardening in the current context, especially the garden-pond-livestock pen (VAC) model development towards circular agriculture, is vital. Therefore, through HortEx, Vietnam will strengthen international cooperation by exchanging and learning from advanced technical advances worldwide. European countries are long ahead in developing circular agriculture.

Although Vietnam's VAC model has developed, it has not been able to apply scientific and technological advances, so the value of the VAC model has yet to be promoted.

"A large-scale exhibition like HortEx Vietnam will bring opportunities, especially advanced technologies and solutions, to help Vietnamese gardeners and producers understand knowledge and apply advanced technologies technical set in production, helping safe agricultural products meet export standards for demanding markets like Europe," Mr. Muoi shared.

According to Mr. Muoi, Vietnam's potential is still huge, but Vietnam's production technology process differs from developed countries. Therefore, participating in the HortEx Vietnam exhibition will create a playground and connect the horticulture industry cooperation between developed countries and Vietnam in a mutually beneficial direction.

Talking to Vietnam Agriculture News, Nguyen Ba Vinh – Director of Service Company Limited Minh Vi Advertising and Exhibition, said that HortEx Vietnam 2024 had attracted 200 brands from 25 countries and territories to display and introduce their products, demonstrating the strong development potential of the vegetable, flower, and fruit industry not only in domestic but also international markets. The exhibition will last until March 15.

Director of the Department of Crop Production Nguyen Nhu Cuong said that at this year's exhibition, Vietnamese businesses in many provinces and cities across the country brought typical local flowers, fruits, and seedlings to introduce to visitors international foods such as mango, durian, longan, orchids. Through Hortex Vietnam 2024, opportunities to connect, cooperate, and expand markets will help Vietnam become one of the world's most prestigious exporters of vegetables, flowers, and fruits.

HortEx Vietnam 2024 is the 6th time the event has been held, confirming that this international trade exhibition is consistently chosen as the most reliable and effective business destination for the vegetable, flower, and fruit industry in Vietnam and the region of Southeast Asia and the world.

Also, it is an effective trade bridge that allows Vietnamese products to penetrate and conquer the international market, making a practical contribution to the development of high-tech agriculture in Vietnam and the region.
