OCOP is a critical solution to improve living standards in rural areas

The seminar has the participation of Mr. Le Anh Duong, Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee; Representatives of leaders of Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development in some provinces and cities successfully deploying OCOP products such as Quang Ninh, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Hanoi, etc. and The products of Bac Giang are mainly fresh. Not many types have been invested in deep processing, so the competitiveness in the market is not high, and the target audience is still limited.

To exploit these advantages, Bac Giang has been implementing plans to expand and build a concentrated raw material area to control the local raw material area, creating a foundation to enhance the value and brand and meet the increasing market demands.The OCOP program in Bac Giang province has been implemented for four years; 180 products have been recognized, of which 42 are 4-star products, becoming the 12th locality in the country and the 2nd in the Midlands and Southern region. northern mountains.

Like other localities, the program implementation process in Bac Giang encountered many difficulties, such as the implementation resources being mainly integrated, the subject not paying attention to developing new products associated with the raw material area, mostly traditional craft villages.

Mr. Nguyen Van Vong - Deputy Chief of the Office of New Rural Affairs in Quang Ninh province, shared that, to implement the program "One commune, one product" for the period of 2018 -2020, in the past years, the locality has always clearly determined that this is the An important economic development program in the direction of indigenousness, there is a close and sustainable connection between producers, processors, and consumers, so it is necessary to have the proper awareness, appropriate methods, and steps.

“The experience to implement this content well is that OCOP officials at district and commune levels must carefully guide the contents of the registration form to participate in OCOP, even have to assist in composing for the unit producing the registration form," said Mr. Vong.

Mrs. Le Hong Van, Director of JOY Vietnam Co., Ltd., said the business was established in 2018. There have been 9 OCOP products, including four 4-star items, the rest three stars.

To reach consumers, in the early days, the Company had to bring samples to greet each store and each small supermarket and participate in safe food groups, fairs and trade promotion programs. to reach distribution units and can work directly with purchasing partners. Up to now, the unit's goods have been present in nearly 500 supermarkets, stores and agents nationwide.

However, due to the lack of qualified human resources and capital, sales still face many difficulties. Many products, when sold in local channels for visitors to buy as gifts, sell very well. But it isn't easy to sell when put on the shelves of convenience stores and supermarkets.

"We look forward to receiving a lot of support in the capital, science and technology. Strengthen the organization of activities to connect directly with distribution units, and reduce competitive pressure on small and individual enterprises and cooperatives, thereby helping subjects bring goods to many customers, aiming for export," said Mrs. Van.

Mr. Le Anh Duong - Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the sharing and enthusiastic contributions of scientists, businesses, cooperatives and delegates at the Workshop.

Mr. Duong affirmed that Bac Giang's orientation in the coming time is to take the industry as the main driving force, services as the driving condition and agriculture as the backbone of the economy. Building new countryside and OCOP program is one of the critical solutions in developing agriculture and rural areas.

Therefore, in the coming time, Bac Giang province hopes that scientists, businesses and other provinces will continue to coordinate, support and help Bac Giang province implement and improve OCOP products.

It can be said that the agricultural sector of Bac Giang province has developed stably for many years. The structure has shifted in a positive direction, forming many large-scale concentrated production areas to meet the needs of domestic consumption and export.
