Currently, the price of rice in the Mekong Delta has been stable without much change. On September 4, in the Mekong Delta, some OM rice varieties cost VND5,500 - 6,000/kg, Dai 8 fragrant rice costs VND5,800 - 6,000/kg, and IR 504 dried rice costs VND6,500/kg. Vietnam’s 5% broken rice for exports sold at $393/ton. Thailand's 5% broken rice price fell slightly to $415-416/ton from $416-420/ton last week.
According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), rice exports from the beginning of the year to August 15, 2022, reached 4.4 million tons, up 19.6% of output over the same period. Export turnover reached $2.1 billion, but the average value decreased by about $50/ton. Although rice exports increased significantly in quantity, the selling price was low. Rice farmers achieve low efficiency due to the high cost of agricultural inputs.
It is expected that Vietnam's rice exports in 2022 will reach 6.3-6.5 million tons. Businesses predict that rice exports will achieve stable growth until the end of this year. The rice market will grow due to increased demand.
