Although lychee output in 2026 declined compared to 2025, Bac Ninh province has maintained stable lychee exports to demanding markets such as the EU, the United States, and Canada by proactively implementing technical measures, strictly controlling pesticide use, and ensuring fresh fruit quality.

In the 2026 lychee season, Bac Ninh was heavily affected by unusual weather conditions. During the flower bud differentiation period, temperatures remained above the multi-year average, while high humidity and prolonged drizzle affected flowering, reducing flowering and fruit-setting rates compared to the 2025 crop.
However, thanks to strong direction from the province and timely guidance for growers on applying safe production practices, this year’s lychee quality has still been maintained. The fruit has an attractive appearance, bright color, thick flesh, and rich sweetness, meeting food safety requirements in importing countries.
From the beginning of the season, the Bac Ninh Department of Agriculture and Environment directed the Crop Production and Plant Protection Sub-Department to establish a 21-member task force for export lychee production, closely monitoring key lychee-growing areas and guiding farmers to strictly follow care procedures, use pesticides properly, prioritize biological pesticides, and apply integrated pest management (IPM).
In particular, for 243 lychee plantation codes covering more than 17,000 hectares for export, specialized agencies inspected and monitored pests and collected lychee samples for pesticide residue analysis before harvest to assess compliance with phytosanitary and food safety requirements for each export market.

At the same time, management of growing area codes and packaging facilities has continued to be strictly maintained. Cooperatives and enterprises carry out pre-processing and packaging in line with the regulations of each export market.
Thanks to early quality control from the start of the season, this year’s lychee consumption and export activities have proceeded smoothly. As of May 20, 2026, more than 50 tons of lychees had been harvested for export to high-end markets such as the United States and North America (Canada), including 20 tons for the North American market. For the U.S. market, lychee shipments are completing phytosanitary procedures required by the importing country before irradiation.
According to Bac Ninh’s agricultural sector, although output has declined due to weather impacts, maintaining stable exports to demanding markets clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of the province’s shift from traditional production to safe agriculture, quality improvement, and value- and brand-driven development for Bac Ninh lychees in international markets.
In the coming period, Bac Ninh will continue expanding lychee production areas under VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, promote digital technology in plantation management, and broaden the use of electronic farming logs for traceability and food safety monitoring, thereby improving competitiveness and gradually affirming the Bac Ninh lychee brand.
