9 tea products from Thai Nguyen province were selected as typical products in the Northern region.

As per Decision No. 44, issued on May 13 by the Department of Local Industry (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Thai Nguyen province has had nine items from three districts and cities in the Northern region recognized as exceptional rural industrial products in 2024.

Specifically, the city of Thai Nguyen offers the following products: The dried young tea produced by Hao Dat Tea Cooperative in Tan Cuong commune, the Tinh Lien lotus-infused Ding tea by Tan Cuong Co., Ltd in Tan Cuong commune, the dried young tea and Ding tea by Thai Son Tea Cooperative in Son Cam commune, the unique flower-infused tea by Son Dung Tea Cooperative in Quang Trung ward, and the Loc Ding tea by Thuy Thuat Tea Cooperative in Phuc Trieu commune.

The Dong Hy district offers the following products: Tuyet Huong tea produced by the Tuyet Huong Cooperative in Hoa Trung commune; Thinh An Dried young tea produced by the Thinh An Tea Cooperative in Song Cau town; Giot Ngoc tea produced by the Nguyen Viet Safe Tea Cooperative in Minh Lap commune.

Thai Nguyen is currently home to four renowned tea-growing districts: Tan Cuong (located in Thai Nguyen city), La Bang (in Dai Tu), Trai Cai (in Dong Hy), and Khe Coc (in Phu Luong). These regions are collectively known as the "Four Great Tea Regions" in the "City of a Thousand Winds."

These areas supply the primary resources for manufacturing prestigious specialty teas that have been legally protected as intellectual property. Every tea-producing area possesses distinct tea flavors and undisclosed knowledge.

The People's Committee of Thai Nguyen Province strongly emphasizes the development of tea cultivation, which is a crucial crop for improving farmers' livelihoods. In the future, the province will persist in guiding and assisting communities and farmers to augment the worth and reputation of Thai Nguyen tea.

By 2025, the objective is to have a total of 23,500 hectares of tea in the entire province, with 85% of the tea land consisting of new types. The average value per hectare is expected to reach 350 million VND.

The primary objectives of Thai Nguyen province are strategizing the cultivation areas for tea, establishing a renowned national tea brand, standardizing the procedures for tea production and processing, and encouraging the integration of scientific advancements and technology in tea cultivation and processing.

In addition, it will assess tea producing regions associated with the growth of tourism, implement regulations relevant to each region, increase the cultivation of organic and environmentally friendly tea, and improve digitalization, trade promotion, and electronic transactions for tea consumption.

The biennial program aims to identify and recognize exceptional rural industrial products in the Northern region that possess high quality, value, and production potential, while also satisfying market demands.

The chosen items must satisfy specific requirements, including production capacity, commercial and market demand, environmental sustainability, cultural and artistic significance, and relevant quality certificates.
