Ho Chi Minh City launches its first exhibition for green growth products

(VAN) As many as 100 Vietnamese and international businesses participate in the Green Growth Show 2023 exhibition of products and services such as green energy; green, organic agriculture; green exports in Ho Chi Minh City.

Green Growth Show 2023 Exhibition Space was officially opened on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street on September 13 under the direction of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the City Trade and Investment Promotion Center (ITPC), the Department of Culture and Sports, Saigon Tourism Corporation Limited, and other related departments and units.

The 2023 Green Growth Show was one of the side events of the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum, which took place from September 13-17 under the theme "Green Growth - Journey towards net zero emission reduction." 

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan stated that the city government recognizes that, in order to contribute to Ho Chi Minh City's sustainable economic development, it is necessary to enhance the support for strong growth of the business community by creating conditions for businesses to have opportunities to promote green growth products and services and by motivating and encouraging businesses to convert to green, circular production models.

This exhibition space will create conditions for Ho Chi Minh City businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, to exchange and interact with leading domestic and international businesses in building a green production ecosystem, applying circular economic models; through the economical and efficient exploitation and use of natural resources and energy based on science and technology, and the application of digital technology and digital business models. Mr. Vo Van Hoan stated that Ho Chi Minh City believes the exhibition will help communicate the construction of a green lifestyle in harmony with nature, with the goal of transforming Ho Chi Minh City into a green, smart city and creating a sustainable consumption culture among all segments of the population.

100 Vietnamese and international businesses will participate in the 2023 Green Growth Show, bringing together leading brands from Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City to exhibit 9 typical green growth product and service groups, including green energy; green, organic agriculture; green production, green export; green transportation; green, smart urban areas; green environment; green consumption; green finance; green tourism.

The exhibition features a distinct space for Ho Chi Minh City businesses granted the title of "Green Enterprise and Innovative Enterprise." This space presents information and images regarding the implementation of Ho Chi Minh City's green development strategy.

Cultural and artistic performances, Vietnamese fashion, and Vietnamese cuisine will also be performed during the 5-day exhibition, anticipated to attract more than 50,000 visitors.

The HCMC Economic Forum 2023 (HEF) takes place from September 13 to September 17, featuring a variety of noteworthy events, such as a talk show between former German Deputy Prime Minister Philipp Rosler and students from the Vietnam National University - HCMC, a meeting program between HCMC leaders and 100 CEOs of large corporations for consultation and investment invitations, and more.

The primary forum is scheduled for September 15, with numerous in-depth discussions on a variety of green growth and sustainable development-related topics: (i) Development trend of green growth and circular economy for megacities (such as Ho Chi Minh City); (ii) Building circular economy ecosystems in the context of striving to achieve net zero; (iii) Policies for generating green growth towards net zero and corporate mission; (iv) Resources for developing the circular economy towards net zero and corporate mission; (v) Lessons and international experience to promote green growth and the circular economy; (vi) Situation in Ho Chi Minh City and solutions for applying green growth models.

Based on the outcomes of HEF 2023, Ho Chi Minh City will synthesize comments, and practical experience, thereby identifying specific solutions for the City in applying green growth models that suit the City’s reality and catching up with the current trend of the world, and at the same time proposing to the Central Government models, solutions and policies at the macro level.

HEF 2023 is a major international event for Ho Chi Minh City. The City expects to have the participation of the Prime Minister, leadership of Vietnamese line ministries; 1,200 - 1,500 delegates from international financial institutions (World Bank, IMF, IFC, ADB, etc.), international organizations, such as the World Economic Forum (WEF), leadership of foreign localities from 21 countries, diplomatic and consular missions, businesses, national and international experts from countries worldwide that have succeeded or aimed for achieving green growth and sustainable development.
