Hanoi has 10 million people with only 18,500 ha of forest

(VAN) Hanoi is a metropolis with 10 million people but has only 18,519 ha of forest, of which 7,593 ha are natural forests and 10,926 ha are planted forests.

Accordingly, Hanoi's forest coverage rate only reached 5.57%, distributed mainly in 6 districts and towns including Ba Vi, Soc Son, My Duc, Chuong My, Quoc Oai, Thach That and Son Tay town. The majority of tree species in planted forests include pine, acacia, and eucalyptus. Meanwhile, Hanoi still has a number of forestry land areas that have not yet become forests - 8,555 ha. The area in Hanoi that has been planted with forests but has not met the criteria is 993 ha, and the area zoned for regeneration is 315 ha...

Forests not only provide a green environment, beautiful landscapes, and clean air for people but are also a place to do ecotourism and spiritual tourism.

In fact, Huong Son special-use forest has an area of 3,497 ha distributed in 4 communes Huong Son, Hung Tien, An Tien and An Phu belonging to My Duc district. The area has quite a large biodiversity and is an inseparable landscape from the Huong Temple complex that welcomes millions of tourists every year to visit and worship.
