In response to an appeal from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the French Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Olivier Brochet, recently transferred 500,000 EUR (equivalent to 13.7 billion VND) to the provinces of Cao Bang and Ha Giang to help address the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi (known locally as Storm No. 3).

Minister Le Minh Hoan extended his deepest thanks to both the French Government and Ambassador Brochet for their prompt assistance in light of the hardships caused by the recent natural disaster. The Minister also emphasized the deep appreciation for France’s noble gesture, which reflects the strong and enduring relationship between the two nations, particularly in times of adversity.

Minister Le Minh Hoan noted that the agricultural sector is now focused on a phase of significant recovery and rebuilding, with the guiding principle of ensuring no one is left hungry or cold. The Vietnamese Government is also pursuing a long-term goal of creating more sustainable, disaster-resilient communities.

Ambassador Olivier Brochet echoed Minister Le Minh Hoan’s sentiments and added that France will also support the construction of two villages in Lao Cai, which were heavily affected by the typhoon. These villages will be developed using French expertise to help local communities enhance their resilience to natural disasters.

Furthermore, the French Government is ready to collaborate with Vietnam in disaster forecasting and early warning systems, sharing expertise to help communities and local authorities proactively prevent and mitigate risks.
