According to Fortune, the Most Powerful Women Asia 2024 list recognizes women redefining leadership by transforming companies, changing the face of industries, driving growth, innovating technology and improving business quality, and inspiring the next generation of leaders. This is the first year Fortune has evaluated and published this list for the Asia-Pacific region, recognizing the world's most powerful and increasingly important economies.

This list is built on 5 criteria, including: size and development of enterprises; strategic vision, promoting innovation, creating breakthroughs; influence on the business sector and the economy; reputation, and social impact.

This year, the outstanding female leaders and entrepreneurs honored come from 11 countries, including China, India, Japan, Korea, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam, spanning many fields such as finance, food and beverage (F&B), energy, transportation, etc.

As the first generation of entrepreneurs, having experienced nearly half a century with many ups and downs of the Vietnamese economy, Mai Kieu Lien has made important marks and contributions to the development of the economy in general and the Vietnamese dairy industry in particular, thereby contributing to the development of many generations of Vietnamese children.

Accompanying Vinamilk since its inception, including 32 years leading the enterprise as General Director, with a spirit of innovation, determination, and outstanding leadership thinking, Ms. Mai Kieu Lien has brought Vinamilk to a respectable position on the world dairy industry map. Vinamilk is currently in the Top 40 largest dairy enterprises in the world (in terms of revenue) and is the 6th largest dairy brand globally in terms of value. It has exported products to 61 countries and territories.

With her outstanding contributions to the country's overall development, Mai Kieu Lien is also a rare businesswoman to be awarded the Third Class Independence Medal. She has been honored in the Most Powerful Women of Vietnam and Asia many times. She is also the only Vietnamese businesswoman to be honored by Forbes Vietnam for Lifetime Achievement.
