According to the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, in the three days from August 3 to August 6, the North, North Central, and Central Highlands regions had rain with the total rainfall from 100 - 150 mm, some stations have higher total rainfall, such as Huoi Quang (Lai Chau) 325 mm, Muong Trai (Son La) 245 mm, Lay Nua (Dien Bien) 237 mm, Bac Ha (Lao Cai) 187 mm, Lao Chai (Yen Bai) 211 mm, Lang Giang (Bac Giang) 201 mm, Dak Ngo (Dak Nong) 164 mm, Bom Bo (Binh Phuoc) 166 mm.
According to a quick report of the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue in the provinces of Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen, and Nghe An, heavy rain, landslides from August 2 to August 6 killed 4 people due to flash floods and 4 people died due to landslides and rocks.
Natural disasters also destroyed 24 houses and damaged 128 houses. Accordingly, Lai Chau and Son La provinces have reviewed and mobilized forces to relocate 32 households at risk of landslides and flash floods.
In addition, heavy rains and landslides damaged 30 hectares of rice, crops and 5.6 hectares of fish ponds.
Regarding traffic, heavy rain has caused landslides at many points on National Highway 4H, 279D, 32, 6, 70, 543D, and 7A, and many provincial roads and local traffic. Local authorities and management units have organized warning barriers, traffic separation, and remedy step 1; only National Highway 279D, 32 Son La, and Yen Bai areas have not yet opened to traffic.
In particular, according to a quick report of the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue in Dak Nong province, damage caused by landslides from August 5 to 6 has damaged 6 houses. 16 households have been relocated from the area of subsidence and landslide. The landslide of Dak N'Ting reservoir continues, and Dak G'Long district has relocated 34 households in dangerous areas downstream to a safe place.
Accordingly, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control requested the Northern mountainous regions to proactively respond to and overcome the consequences of rain, floods, and landslides under the direction of the Prime Minister at the Official Dispatch No. 726/CD-TTg dated August 5, 2023, and Official Dispatch No. 08/CD-QG dated August 5, 2023, of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.
Provinces in the Central Highlands focus on overcoming damage caused by floods, landslides and ensuring the safety of dams under the direction of the Prime Minister at the Official Dispatch No. 725/CD-TTg dated August 4, 2023 and Official Dispatch No. 691/CD-TTg dated July 31, 2023.
Localities must also organize on duty and regularly report to the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Office of the National Committee for Incident and Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.

The provinces of the North, the North Central, the Central Highlands, and the South actively respond to heavy rains, the risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides according to Official Dispatch No. 08/CD-QG dated August 5, 2023; Document No. 288/VPTT dated August 1, 2023, of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.
