The current generation of the university's staff and students, particularly those who are female, have been inspired and energized by the forum "For the Advancement of Woman Farmers" conducted by Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper, according to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, Director of Vietnam National University of Agriculture.

In 2023, the VNUA hosted two Deputy Secretaries of the United States Department of Agriculture, who subsequently participated in a discussion on agricultural startups and smart and ecological agriculture. The event was a resounding triumph and has left a lasting impression on the university's training infrastructure.

The United States is known for its advanced production, as per the Director of the VNUA. Consequently, the US Embassy in Vietnam, international organizations, two female farmers with appropriate concepts from MARD, and relevant units have collaborated to emphasize the role of women, particularly during the transition to sustainable development.

"This event is a valuable contribution to the International Year of Woman Farmers 2026," Ms. Lan stated.

In the past, VNUA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with over 200 universities, research institutes, and international organizations, which has presented a series of opportunities for students to pursue scholarships and international exchanges.

Ms. Lan shared that the lecturers and students would gain more popularity on an international scale, in addition to the cooperation and collaboration in the implementation of this program, such as the Forum for the Advancement of Women in Agriculture this August 12. It is anticipated that the event will serve as a catalyst for collaboration with the foremost agricultural sector, including the United States.

As the national primary training facility in the field of agriculture, where women comprise the majority of lecturers and students, the proactive and enthusiastic women have significantly influenced the scientists at VNUA.

In reality, the situation differs from that of the majority of scientific research institutions, both domestically and internationally. In certain countries, experts have cautioned that the absence of female scientists will result in a decrease in productivity, competitiveness, and innovation.

On behalf of the female staff, lecturers, and students of the university, Ms. Lan is dedicated to continuing to aspire for excellence, as evidenced by these accomplishments, in order to fulfill the golden slogan "Hero – Indomitable – Neutral – Guaranteed."

Female scientists have made significant contributions and left a lasting impact on the agricultural development of Vietnam. Three female scientists have been awarded the Kovalevskaia awards at the VNUA, the foremost institution for training top-tier experts.

This esteemed award is granted to promising young academicians who are pursuing their research in the sciences or arts and humanities. The foundation is open to applications from all academic disciplines, provided that the applicant has earned a Ph.D. within the past six years and is classified as "top flight" based on their publications and experience, which are consistent with their age.

In 1991, Ass. Prof. Dr. Ta Thu Cuc became the first female scientist at VNUA to receive the award. She has gained recognition for her research and selection of more than 100 pure vegetable samples and tomatoes. She is the project's expert in the pilot production of clean vegetables in the Hanoi subburb.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Tram, a distinguished student of the "father" of hybrid rice, Vien Long Binh, is the second female researcher to receive the honor. She has conducted nearly 20 research projects on the selection of rice varieties. She is still engaged in collaboration with VNAU at the age of 80.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, the youngest scientist in the field of veterinary medicine, served as the professor. She is the co-author of two technical advancements: The Procedures for Diagnosis of Infectious Hepatitis and Procedures for Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Hepatitis in Chickens, in addition to numerous scientific works and articles.
