According to the General Department of Customs, fine art ceramic exports in March 2024 reached USD 16.09 million, up 43.1% compared to February 2024 and up 27.2% over the same period in 2023.

In the first three months of 2024, Vietnam's fine art ceramic exports reached USD 52.23 million, up 32.4% over the same period in 2023. Refined art ceramic exports in April 2024 are estimated to reach USD 15.5 million, down 3.7% compared to March 2024 but up 24% over the same period in 2023.

In terms of types, exports of ceramic pots in March 2024 reached USD 11.66 million, up 48% compared to February 2024 and up 39.7% over the same period in 2023. Overall, in the first three months of the year 2024, the export of ceramic pots accounts for 71% of the country's total fine-art ceramic export turnover, reaching USD 37.09 million, an increase of 35.2% over the same period in 2023.

In March 2024, exports of ceramic pots to crucial markets such as the US, EU, and United Kingdom grew strongly compared to the previous month and the same period in 2023. Overall, in the first three months of 2024, the export of ceramic pots to the US increased by 36% over the same period in 2023; the EU increased by 34.8%, and the UK increased by 79.8%.

Decorative ceramic exports in March 2024 reached USD 2.94 million, up 34.3% compared to February 2024, down 6.2% over the same period in 2023. Overall, in the first three months of 2024, decorative ceramic exports reached nearly USD 10 million, up 14.2% over the same period in 2023.

Household ceramics exports in March 2024 reached over USD 779.000, an increase of 33.4% compared to February 2024 but down 7.5% over the same period in 2023. In the first three months of 2024, household ceramic exports reached USD 3.02 million, up 20.6% over the same period in 2023.

Regarding export markets, in March 2024, fine art ceramic exports to the EU reached USD 4.47 million, up 15.2% compared to February 2024 and up 2.5% over the same period last year. 2023. Overall, in the first three months of 2024, fine art ceramic exports to the EU account for 31.8% of the country's total export turnover of this item, reaching USD 16.63 million, an increase of 26.2% compared to the same period in 2023.

In particular, ceramic pots and vases grew strongly: ceramic pots increased by 34.8%, decorative ceramics increased by 17.6%, and ceramic vases increased by 213.5%. Only exported household ceramics decreased in the first three months of 2024.

Export of fine art ceramics to the US market in March 2024 reached USD 6.32 million, an increase of 51.3% compared to February 2024, an increase of 62.6% over the same period in 2023. Overall, in the first three months of 2024, ceramic exports to the US account for 38.8% of the country's total export turnover, reaching USD 20.25 million, an increase of 34.5% over the same period in 2023.

All types of fine art ceramics exported to the US in March 2024 increased compared to the previous month and increased compared to the same period in 2023. Specifically, ceramic pots increased by 36%, and decorative ceramics increased by 13.4%, ceramic vases increased by 82.9%, and household ceramics increased by 204.7%.

Artisan Ha Thi Vinh, Director of Quang Vinh Ceramics Co., Ltd., assessed that the free trade agreements (FTAs) that Vietnam has signed create outstanding opportunities for exporting handicraft technology, including ceramics.

"Currently, 95% of the enterprise's market is export, with the main export markets identified as the EU and the US. With this prospect, we expect export revenue to grow steadily at over 5% per year," Mrs. Vinh shared.

Sharing the same opinion, Mr. Ly Ngoc Minh, Chairman of Directors Board, CEO of Minh Long 1 Ceramics Company, said that domestic enterprises always have to innovate in a world that always has many fluctuations, especially great competition in the market, building appropriate strategies, promoting digital transformation, science and technology, and renewing business models.

"In addition to traditional export markets, ceramic businesses should focus on exploiting new markets such as India, Korea, China, Mexico, and Chile," Mr. Minh analyzed.

The MARD said that the production of fine art ceramics in our country is based on a system of 5,400 craft villages and craft villages nationwide, including nearly 2,000 traditional craft villages with 115 traditional occupations being recognized.

Ceramics are a traditional product of Vietnam, with hundreds of years of development history and rich designs in types, uses, sizes, and shapes. At the same time, this item is exciting and favored by international friends because of its high aesthetic value.

Vietnamese ceramic products have appeared in more than 30 countries and territories worldwide, with four main markets leading the way: the US, Southeast Asia, Japan, and the EU.

To ensure export activities, the Agency of Foreign Trade (MOIT) recommends that businesses look up the HS code accurately before completing customs clearance procedures. There are many ways to do this, but most use the import-export tariff schedule or look up directly on the website of a specialized agency.

According to statistics from the US International Trade Commission, imports of fine art ceramics into the US in February 2024 reached USD 166.63 million, down 2.3% compared to January 2024. However, this market continues to increase imports from Vietnam. This is the 7th consecutive month that Vietnam has maintained growth momentum.

The MOIT forecasts that the consumption of goods in major markets such as the US and the EU is gradually receiving better signs, which promotes an increase in export orders, including fine art ceramics.
