The manufacturing and processing industry of wood and wooden products is the main export strength of Tuyen Quang province. Tuyen Quang province stably maintains more than 132,000 hectares of planting material areas, of which the large timber forest area is more than 69,800 hectares, the forest area certified for sustainability by FSC is 35,800 hectares.

The province has attracted many large enterprises to invest in large-scale production and processing. Wooden products meet export standards.

According to the report of the Department of Industry and Trade of Tuyen Quang province, in the first 3 months of the year, the province's export of paper products reached 841 tons, the export of printing paper reached 100 tons, the export of writing paper reached 100 tons, etc. Although there were some signs of improvement, but compared to the same period in 2021, many export items of Tuyen Quang province still achieved negative growth.

In recent months, the Covid-19 pandemic has no longer complicated developments, the clearance of seaports and airlines has been relaxed, so many orders have been gradually signed again.

Along with that, the number of Covid-19 infections in Tuyen Quang province has continuously decreased, so workers can return to factories and the production activities are stably maintained.

Hoang Minh Son, Director of Administration and Human Resources of An Hoa Paper Joint Stock Company, says that from the beginning of the year until now, the company has exported 2,000 tons of pulp and 500 tons of paper. The export renvenue is more than US$ 1 million, and export items exceeds 20% over the same period last year in both quantity and value.

Currently, the development of the domestic market is the number one priority of An Hoa Paper Joint Stock Company. The company only exports pulp products to long-term partners. From now until the end of the year, the company's pulp export volume accounts for 20% of the total 130,000 tons produced, that means an increase of 15% compared to 2021.

In the 2021 - 2025 period Tuyen Quang has set the goal of developing another 20,000 ha of large timber forests, bringing the total area of large timber forests in the province up to 89,000 ha. To achieve the set target, the People's Council of Tuyen Quang, term XIX, issued Resolution No. 03/2021/NQ-HDND dated July 16th, 2021.

Tuyen Quang will implement the policy of supporting 50% of loan interest rates for organizations and individuals borrowing capital to convert small wood forests into large timber, equivalent to an interest rate support of about VND 8.4 million/ha. Households will receive favor from the policy on high-quality seedlings support. The support rate is from VND 5-12 million/ha depending on tree species.

The People's Committee of Tuyen Quang also approved the "Tuyen Quang 2021 - 2030 Sustainable Forestry Development Scheme, orientation to 2035". The province will support seedlings for afforestation with the following species: tissue-cultured acacia hybrid, foreign-seeds acacia mangium, Michelia tonkinensist (doi pepper tree), black dhup, and Indochina dragonplum. Another help the province will provide is the development of medicinal herbs and non-timber forest products as well as conservation and new planting of valuable specialty plants.

2021 is considered a successful year for the timber industry of Tuyen Quang province. The industry runs smoothly while ensuring both anti pandemic measures and maintaining production and business activities. A series of timber products and wood-based products make significant contributions to economic growth and export value of the province.

Along with wooden products, the export of tea production and processing companies also receives positive signals. In the first three months of 2022, the province's total tea export output reached more than 422 tons. Some companies having big export volume are My Lam Tea Joint Stock Company with export volume of 245 tons; Song Lo Tea Joint Stock Company with export volume of more than 90 tons, etc.

The export of agricultural products of Tuyen Quang province is still low when compared to the first quarter of 2021, but if the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country and the world is less complicated, it will be a positive signal for the businesses to begin reconnecting contracts with partners.

Up to now, many businesses have basically reconnected with traditional partners, boosted export activities, and promoted the growth of processed agricultural and forestry products in the province.

Tuyen Quang province plans to achieve three 5-star OCOP agro-products in 2022, including Hong Thai Snow Shan tea (Na Hang district); Ngoc Thuy Su Anh tea (Yen Son district), and Phong Tho honey (Tuyen Quang city). These are products that were all recognized as 4-star OCOP products previously, and now they may have more opportunities to assert their value and gain an initial foothold in the market.
