Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Cao Lanh district (Dong Thap province) Bui Tan Phuoc said in order to help farmers care for, harvest and selling their crops during the time the locality imposes social distancing measure, the People’s Committee of Cao Lanh district has just decided on forming 70 agricultural assistance groups with the participation of 206 members.
In addition, Cao Lanh district’s Farmers’ Association continues to help connect farmers and buyers. The Youth Union of the district continues to maintain the operation of 18 “ blue-shirt” shipper teams while Cao Lanh district Labour Union continues to maintain “supporting trips”, cooperating with the district’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to donate vegetables, fruits and 100 10 kg bags of rice for residents in the communes of My Xuong, My Hoi, My Tho, Tan Hoi Trung. The Association of Cao Lanh Veterans maintains the operation of 91 groups taking charge of buying, delivering essential items to its members.
Through their activities, the groups help farmers sell 332 tons of longan, 330 tons of guavas, 145 tons of lemons, 775 tons of frogs, 620 tons of red tilapia, 9.6 tons of giant freshwater prawns, 140 tons of vegetables and fruits, 60 tons of perch fishes and 50 tons of snakeskin gourami.
According to Phuoc, Cao Lanh district has been giving Covid-19 vaccines to those involved in agricultural production, harvesting and selling crops in the area including the operators of combine harvesters, workers at rice mills.
