Denmark collaborates to support enterprise in building public-private partnerships in pig farming

During the meeting on May 14, both parties exchanged information regarding various opportunities and potential for collaboration in the field of agriculture and rural development.

Minister Le Minh Hoan, expressed his belief that the Joint Statement on the establishment of a "Green strategic partnership" between Vietnam and Denmark would serve as a catalyst for political cooperation, economic growth focused on sustainability, employment creation, collaboration on global challenges, and the development of green solutions.

The Danish government has consistently provided support to Vietnam in terms of human resources and finances for the country's construction and development. This support has been particularly focused on the field of agriculture and rural development in the past three years.

In the past three years, there has been a noticeable increase in cooperation from Denmark across various sectors, including agriculture and fisheries.

The joint statement also highlights the potential for enhanced collaboration between the two ministries in various areas, such as food agriculture and aquaculture. The primary emphasis is on promoting sustainable food production and resource efficiency, as well as advancing technologies and solutions for land-based and marine aquaculture.

MARD acknowledges that Denmark, being a member of the European Union, holds considerable resources to assist Vietnam. MARD has presented a project to the Commission of the European Union, seeking assistance for Vietnam in removing the Yellow Card warning on IUU fishing and promoting marine aquaculture. Minister Le Minh Hoan expressed the hope that the EU, including Denmark, can extend their support to Vietnam in these crucial areas.

The minister also suggested that Denmark offer its expertise and specialized knowledge on environmental research and assessment in agricultural production. This would include sustainable resource management and input reduction in livestock farming, freshwater and saltwater aquaculture, and cultivation of high-value crops.

In addition, Minister Le Minh Hoan put forward that Denmark explore the potential for collaboration in the realm of emissions reduction in agricultural production. This could involve coordinating projects and joint programs between government agencies, research institutes, and universities affiliated with the two Ministries.

Creating collaborative channels between the public and private sectors to address issues like waste prevention, food loss, sustainable grain production, and efficient supply chains for livestock farming, aquaculture, and cultivation.

The Danish Minister is being encouraged to promote collaboration between companies in Denmark and invest in commercial sectors that are in demand in the Vietnamese market and align with Denmark's strengths.

Minister Le Minh Hoan also suggests that Denmark send technical experts for regular exchanges and consultations to strengthen Vietnam's institutional capacity in agriculture.

Furthermore, the Danish scholarship support center is urging the Danish Minister to enhance opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural officials to visit Denmark for exchanges and learning.

Both parties should prioritize increasing agricultural commodity trade, particularly by focusing on complementary products that are not in direct competition. This will allow people from both countries to have access to each other's agricultural goods, ultimately promoting amicable relations between the two nations.

Denmark is renowned for its expertise in pig farming value chains and business linkage, boasting numerous successful models. Denmark is urged to collaborate with Vietnam to facilitate business exchanges and foster cooperation between the two sides through public-private partnerships.

The minister suggested that technical teams from both countries should quickly work together to eliminate obstacles and expressed a keen interest in receiving feedback from the Ambassador through businesses.
