Cuc Phuong develops tourism in association with environmental and ecological protection

On March 21, Cuc Phuong National Park held a consultation conference on the Ecotourism project for 2023 - 2030 and launched the mascot set used in the 2024 CPJP race.

Cuc Phuong is Vietnam's first National Park (established on July 7, 1962), built to preserve intact natural resources and cultural and historical values, view; maintain the protective effect of forests; organize research activities and scientific research cooperation; Organize environmental education and service activities.

Based on the potential of biodiversity, natural landscape, cultural values of indigenous communities and achievements in scientific research, rescue and conservation, in recent years, Cuc Phuong has been a leader. It has successfully organized its own tourism "ecosystem" with many programs and products promoting the value of forests.

The Cuc Phuong National Park ecotourism development project for 2023-2030 was built with the view of continuing to consider environmental protection and biodiversity conservation as the number one important task of the Park.

Taking that as the focus to develop tourism towards sustainable ecotourism, integrating and improving knowledge and educational experiences about nature, biodiversity, wildlife, and endemic species of Cuc Phuong National Park to tourists.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Director of Cuc Phuong National Park, experiential educational activities for high school students at all levels and existing unique tourism products must be organized and operated thoughtfully and professionally.

Ecotourism development in Cuc Phuong National Park must strictly comply with the provisions of forestry law and Directive No. 08, dated February 23, 2024, of the Prime Minister on comprehensive and rapid tourism development and sustainability; integrating digital technology 4.0 into propaganda, introduction, and tourist guidance activities; focusing on growth in the direction of "each visitor to the Park must be responsible for nature and contribute to society".

"The park also creates a more sustainable tourism ecosystem, continuing to fulfill the goal of making Cuc Phuong a model national park, a great school of nature and positioning of Vietnam's tourism brand", Director Nguyen Van Chinh emphasized further.

No trade-offs at any cost

In addition to protecting the environment and ecology, the Park also focuses on promoting the cultural and historical values that are the potential of the Park in tourism activities to diversify tourists' products and experiences when coming to Cuc Phuong National Park.

Vietnam's first national park management board identified tourism development as one of the essential goals but not at any cost, considering tourism development as an effective tool to increase efficiency of conservation work, forest protection, environmental protection and raising awareness and love for nature.

Focus on improving the quality of experience, service quality and depth as well as the content and messages conveyed about the environment through experiential, educational and visually interpretive activities, lively and practical.

For many years, the unit has maintained the title of Asia's leading National Park, while striving to achieve other noble titles both domestically and internationally, attracting further attention and support from State management agencies at all levels, domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations, along with cooperation and connection with domestic and foreign National Parks/Natural Reserves, research units and organizations.

The Cuc Phuong National Park Management Board raised two specific issues regarding goals and orientation. The first is to develop ecotourism toward sustainable exploitation of natural resources and indigenous culture, promoting forest protection, preserving the Park's biodiversity, supporting local society's economic development, and creating good visitor experiences.

Second, orient the organization of space and technical facilities for ecotourism; orienting ecotourism development according to supply and demand; oriented to enhance the position and image of Cuc Phuong National Park through ecotourism development.

The consultation project in this Conference was developed to concretize Decision No. 208/QD-TTg dated February 29, 2024, of the Prime Minister approving the Project to develop the multi-use value of forest ecosystems to 2030, vision to 2050; concretize the sustainable forest management plan for Cuc Phuong National Park for the period 2021 - 2030.

Discussion with conservationists

Responding to the International Day of Forests 2024 on March 21, with the theme "Forests and innovation - new solutions for a better world". Before the Conference to consult on the Ecotourism Project, on the afternoon of March 20, 2024, Cuc Phuong National Park organized a discussion for 2024 conservationists.

The board of directors, key Cuc Phuong National Park staff, leaders, experts, staff, and workers of organizations cooperating in animal rescue and conservation participated in the discussion at Cuc Phuong National Park.

To honor groups and individuals who have completed rescuing, preserving and enhancing exchanges, creating an atmosphere of joy, excitement, solidarity and greater attachment between organizations. , an individual doing conservation work in Cuc Phuong.

Also on the afternoon of March 20, 2024, Cuc Phuong National Park organized a tree planting activity in response to the Prime Minister's Program to plant 1 billion trees and the Park's activity "More green for old forests".

Participating in the tree planting activity were Mr. Ha Cong Tuan, former Permanent Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chairman of the Agricultural and Rural Development Economic Sciences Association; Mr. Bui Chinh Nghia, Director of the Forest Protection Department; Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Director of Cuc Phuong National Park and nearly 100 delegates.
